Westwood shoots 66 in his 1st round as World Number 1.

He putted like God,a great round and the guy looks in the zone.He had his usual 2/3 dodgy chips, chips that even to me looked like he should be knocking inside 4 feet but left them outside 10 but holed the putts anyway! :)

Shaping up well with the real number 1 holing nowt in his round of 68 and a great leaderboard chasing Franny Molinari.

One puzzling thing though is why the feck are Fuyrk and Stricker sat at home this week.....lazy b******s,but I suppose this WGC event isn't in the bloody USA is it?!

Gah. Just dawned on me that I shall miss the entire weekend's golf as I'm in London. Hope he pulls off the win. (Westwood that is. I could care two jots about Tiger).

A good start from westwood, good to see but nowt is won on thursday and he is not a proven winner of big events so i hope he can continue with the same form.

Steady start from Tiger and Mickelson.

Excellent to see Molinari up there as well i think a good week putting this week would set him up for a massive year next year which IMHO could involve a major.

He did enough on day 1 and certainly hasn't thrown it away or left himself with a mountain to climb. That said Westwood does tend to throw a poor round in but hopefully being refreshed he'll not do that this week

Not a chance....your a better putter than him!! Thats how highly I rate him... : ;)

That'll be a W in the Italians column then and another non-w in the world number 1's!! ;)

Glad I didny listen to your sh1te advice as I made a tidy wee bit on it.

Great days golf,Westwood did well to keep up with Molinari who was superb but the difference has to be the number 1's short game again..that said if Molinari had holed a couple of easily makeable putts it would have been a coast to victory.

There were only ever those 2 in it in the last round.

But watch out - Tigger made a bit of a comeback in the last few holes. He's not totally finished with this World Number 1 business yet...

So lets get this straight. Westwood finished one shot back after the first round and then matched Molinari stroke for stroke thereafter. Hardly a cataclysmic final round collapse especially with all the extra hype following him this week. He did enough to retain his number one position and was a shot away from a playoff and possibly retaining the title. Hardly a bad week at the office. Apart from Woods having a decent late run, he, Mickleson and Kaymer were hardly world number 1 class form were they?
