I'm still waiting for the official results (and handicap amendments) to go on the website, but unless something wacky happens I should now be off 9.

I started badly with a 7 on the par 4 2nd, and was 5 over through 5, but managed some half decent golf to play the last 13 in +2 for a 79 total (par 72)

I don't know why it matters, after all it's 'only' 1 less than 10, but it seems that it's the next target of everyone off 10-13.
Maybe it's because you have targets like 100 & 90, but then you break 80 and what next? 70 is damn hard! Single figures is the next logical target.

Anyway, even though I think my mental game is ok and don't let things like that affect me, I'd screwed up the last hole the last twice out when I had a decent chance, so I'm pleased to have done it this time even if it's only so I'm not chasing it the next time.

Very well done. Nice to see people achieving targets.

Out of interest, how long have you been playing? What would you say are the strongest and weakest parts of your game?

Well done. I shan't be joining you any time soon, been there, didn't like it! :(

I'm sure your game with keep coming on just great now you've crossed that hurdle.

Congrats.

Aaaarrgghhhhhh!!
Just spent 10 minutes making replies to quotes then hit the 'X' by mistake.

Thanks to everyone for the comments.

Results are up and am a tiny bit disappointed I only came 5th, but that's not really what it was about today for me. Next time maybe.
CSS went down to 71, so a 0.4 cut to 9.1

@Tim
I played as a kid but gave up in my early 20's.
Started again (20 years later) in Summer 2008.
The weak and strong parts of my game change from week to week but generally driving and short game weak, irons good.
Today for example, I only hit 3 fairways and 4 times had no shot at the green. Of the 14 shots I had at the green I hit 10 of them.

@fundy
Well done on yours, although it was even more a case of 'when' not 'if' than me.
I'm not racing you to cat1. I'm not daft (no I won't take a vote on it!)

@jammy
Beau is not a good place for someone who can't hit a fairway or putt on fast greens to be betting. I'm still not daft. :D

@Evesdad
Thanks again for the invite yesterday. We will both have much better rounds than that!

@Richard
I do too, but I have to prove it in comps. There's far too many golfers that are better in their head than on the handicap certificate :)

@kid2
Forget bad holes. A long time ago that triple on the 2nd would have finished my round. Far too often I've blown most of my handicap on the front 9 and made buffer or better.
It's never over until it's over :)

Well done Gary.
It's a great feeling when you finally get there.
Now the tough stuff starts - staying there is even harder..!
