Hi guys,

Anybody got any solutions as to how to take my form off the range onto the course?

I just seem to loose all my swing and I dont hit anything as well as I do on the range!

Thanks.

I don't know whether to reply in a serious way or just be deeply sarcastic.

Here goes.

Hardly anyone can get on the course and come even vaguely close to their range form. If I took my range form to the course, I'd probably hit almost every fairway and green. It's tough, but you've just got to keep plugging away....and when you do discover something truly useful at the range, keep that thought and probably not too many others.

If you don't, start using a pre shot routine at the range, work on it until it makes you feel warm and cosy then use it before every shot. It should relax you not fill you with swing thought. Mine is a kind of check list, the first thing sets a quick chain reaction to the others. They are feelings rather than thoughts.

Second thing is rhythm, work on it on the range, take it to the course to stop yourself trying to blast everything.

Basically no presure on the range so try to recreate that in your game.

The problem is, your range form isn't as good as you think it is. On the range the shots have no consequence and there is no pressure. If you hit a shot 20yds right on the range but strike it well you probably pat yourself on the back for hitting a good shot; on the course, that shot goes in the bunker. On top of that, on the range you build muscle memory. Try this. Next time you're on the range, get 20 balls and wait 3 minutes between each hit. Pick a specific target, like a post and be ultra critical about the result. I bet the sofference between range and course is'nt as much as you think
