So a little bit of banter started, which led to a bet - £3 per stableford point difference up to a maximum of £20.

Tonight at 4pm i am playing 9holes against my mate (off about 18) with only a 6iron and a putter!

The course is very short (4par3 in the 9holes) so i fancy being in a position to make par on those, and the rest of the holes are fairly easy, but surely i am a huge underdog?

I think if i had one more club, i would fancy my chances.

What do you guys reckon?

You should be ok, but a wedge would be very helpful, just avoid greenside bunkers & deep rough.
Good luck

I was watching one of Crossfields youtube challenges where they all just use a 3 iron.

A couple of impressive short game shots on that video...

Your the underdog... Looking forward to seeing how it goes though.

it could be lights out if you go into a bunker, i would have dropped the putter for a wedge

Imagine opening the face of a 6 iron and trying hit the ball out of a bunker

Lottery

i've done it before, not easy. the good news is that its stableford off scratch so technically i cant get worse than a bogey.
i also have a bet that i can beat him on a long drive comp - i hit my 6iron a long way, but i should hit the fariway, we all know a long drive doesnt count unless its on the fairway :)

All the pressure is with him. Remind him how much of a chomp he is going to look if he loses against somebody with 2 clubs and then watch him melt :D

Interesting challenge ,I've won our 3club comp. three times and I know you can improvise shots,I would keep the putter and if you do land in a bunker , depending on what your mates doing you might well be able to take a penalty drop and play the shot again and still get the same or more points than him.

Look forward to the result, do you both play off 18? Don't think you're a huge underdog ,won't be surprised if you win.

Good Luck..

No, I am off 5. It was blowing an absolute gale but I shot +6 and he shot +7. So I am £3 richer :-)

It was really good fun actually and I can full see the benefit of playing rounds with half sets now.
