Ok..... 2 1/2 hours of it was in the Holiday Inn car park last night....
Met Virtuicity last night, he'd come down from Scotland for business and arranged to meet me for a day at the range.
We met at his hotel last night (5pm) and discussed the swing, before you know it we were in his hotel room (we were both dressed!!) and with the low ceilings in his room we ended up with a club standing in the car park (as you do) discussing the swing for a couple of hours and all the things I was expecting him to do the following morning,
Picked him up this morning from the hotel at 8.15am and headed for the range.
We talked about his grip, his posture, his grip, his backswing, his grip, his distance from the ball, his grip, shaft lean, the shoulders, the hips, spine tilt at address, hip bump, ball flight laws, alignment, the grip, draw shots, straight shots, power fades, the grip, chipping, the grip, bunker shots, the grip, weight shift, impact, left arm plane, overswing, and a little about the grip
There might be some other things we discussed that I might have forgotten about, for example... the GRIP!
Had a great day and he hit some fantastic drives, some solid irons (straight) and made a huge amount of decent swings, probably got thru just over 400 balls between us, a bit of chipping and bunker stuff and I'm in the process of writing him a summary so that he can remember all the things we have gone thru.
He seemed genuinely pleased with the way he was hitting the ball and hopefully has had a massive confidence boost with his play. Of course (for prying eyes) he didn't manage to get any balls over the 270yrd range fence (unlike me!!), he didn't chip in on the chipping green (unlike me!) but he did hit a gorgeous bunker shot that landed 6ft past the pin and spun back towards the hole which we were both pretty impressed with.
Dropped him off at the Airport at 3.30pm so we were at the range itself for about 5 1/2hrs. Both of us can still walk (thank you very much) and neither of us are injured.
All in all it was a genuine success and here's a pic of his before and after overswing which has plagued him since he started playing....... was a pleasure Dave
... notice on the right how he's actually LOOKING at the ball
