What’s reasonable.?
I’m 67 and 95mph driver .

It’s more about the weight not flex .
Ideally try before you make up your mind.

suppose i’ ll have to get a fitting session then, thanks KenL . You mean the weight of the shaft? , there appear to be many shaft options on the Ping website, very confusing.

I find the standard Ping Alta shafts on the soft side and my swing speed is nothing special. ( I play a 425 3 wood)
If you are going to buy new why not get fitted, some of the shafts are a no charge option.

I have alta regular in my hybrid and 5 wood. Don’t find them too soft myself.

Stiff tour shaft in my driver, mainly to keep spin low.

If you’re just looking in the ping std range then it’s pretty close. I use stiff and regular in my crossovers. To be honest I feel a slight difference but I like the loose feel of the regular vs the stiff.
I think also the difference will be ball height so think carefully about what you want achieve… I would personally go stiff or heavier in a 7 wood to keep the height down and I don’t really want to shape it either it has too much loft.
But it is difficult to work out without trying unless you know what you want. If you don’t have the opportunity to try just go stiffer as it won’t be a disaster if incorrect. You can pick up cheap shafts to try later if you are still worried

I had Ping irons, fairways and driver, off the shelf, with Alta shafts.

Got fitted and the correct shafts have transformed my game.
How so?

I say this as someone who got fitted at pxg and the guy basically asked me what my usual distance and miss was with driver. He said sounds like a mitsubishi tensei white. Sure enough that's what he recommended at the end. I couldn't really tell any difference between the shafts to be honest.

No idea - I'm not the fitter...

I separated the fittings into driver/fairways and irons. He didn't ask me anything, but watched my shots and built a spec from there.

How has it transformed your game?

Iron launch is perfect for me, along with stopping on a sixpence. I'm spinning the ball when I want to spin the ball.

Driving again, straight, great flight, same distance drive after drive.

It's a transformation for me in consistency alone.
