I have recently purchased a 5 hybrid. Hit it about the same distance as a 4iron, but so much easier to hit the ball well and also get good distance out of the rough using it.:D

What are you going to do then - Leave the 4 iron out of the bag?

Useful little club i.m.o. - if you can find a place for it in the bag.

i love my 4i. Its a great rescue club for a low flighing but long running shot from under the trees.

excellent - unlike the other 2 responses I would assume that the 4i is now in the shed.

horses for courses springs to mind!

4i went from bag some time ago.

Only used in Winter - when the LW gets parked - or on the practice range.

I can get the same distance with an 'easy 3 Rescue', so no real gap.

I've just ditched my Adams 20* Rescue club because the Callaway X2 Hot 4 iron is mahoosive and dead easy to hit!

During the Masters I heard one of the commentators mention a Pro who carried seven hybrids in his bag.
Didn't catch who and whether he was in the Masters.
I'd assume at least three, even four wedges.
Can a hybrid replace a wedge?
With driver and putter I wonder what the final club would be.

Kj choi?
He's known for having a bag full of hybrids.

I believe it was Matsuyama who they mentioned had loads of hybrids!

Nope! Just the one for him.

Y E Yang has plenty though - and is a Major winner!

Sometimes 5 iron is in the bag (when he won the PGA). Other times 6 iron is the longest iron.

@Sid Rixon. I believe the commentator might have been talking about the number of head-covers in the bag!

Nope KJ is pretty 'normal' with his set-up. But it's rarely the same clubs on consecutive days! A complete Ho! and just as likely to buy them from the local superstore as the OEM.

Btw. We whities probably all look alike too!

2011 masters both KJ Choi and YE Yang had 4 hybrids in the bag.
On one day the longest iron in Kj's bag was a 7iron.
He may well have reverted to a more normal set up but he has been known for a many hybrid set up.

Racism suggestion is misplaced, incorrect and totally uncool. You are an arse.

Apologies!

As posted, Choi changes his bag pretty much daily - as he did there Thursday/Friday (6i back in). While I generally follow him - I bought a couple of his 'reject' shafts, I must have missed/forgotten that episode amongst his many and varied combos.

Accepted, no worries.

Heard a story about him recently buying a set of mizuno mp64's off the rack at golf galaxy (or similar US enormous golf store) on the way to a tournament. He's crazy with his gear!
