I'm playing in a 5 club competition this w/e 4 the 1st time. Just thinking what to take? I'm thinking 3 wood, hybrid, 7 iron, pw, putter? What would you have in the bag?

it would depend hugely on
1. what you normally have in your bag and how you use it
2. the course
3. your handicap
to put that in perspective I would have different clubs in the bag for the different tees at our course!

Par 3s are the key to success for these comps. so pick the club(s) that gives you best flexibility on them.
I'd always favour a Driver too - and the Putter is essential. Hybrid is probably the most useful other club. And something I was confident with for bunkers, not necessarily the SW if PW or LW was particularly useful elsewhere.
So Driver, Hybrid, 6 or 7 iron, Wedge and Putter.
