4 iron

Would you guys who have 4 irons In the bag be happy carrying water at 190 and stopping it on a green?

I sure as hell wouldn't. I hit it too low and also I couldn't do it 8/10 times with an iron. I have much more of a chance with a hybrid.

Down the grip slightly and tee my 4w up, nice high flight and soft landing.

I've a 24* Adams Tightlies hybrid in the bag but I do shy away from it, it's my keep it low under the branches when in the trees club 😏

I've gone the hybrid route and wouldn't go back to the 4-iron. More consistent with the hybrid and much more forgiving!

The question was directed at smiffy saying he sweeps his 4i 190-200 yards. I was wondering do the rest of you hit towering 4 irons that stop on greens or run for 20/30 yards? my one is the latter which is no good to me.

if looking at stuff to maybes help give more of a higher flight with the long irons would look at where the hands orientation is on the handle now

- if still on tending to be a tad on the strong side even though the delivery maybes now of a pattern that can get ball to target

- getting the overrun out on landing is likely the grip hold & delivery is de-lofting the face by some
so not getting optimum launch angle to get to peak height to get the descent angle to give some stop

possible there maybes a tad too much handle drag past the ball into impact

would also just check over the ball position with the long irons maybes a tad too near center

You are right. I do have low ball flight and a silly strong grip. I just don't bother with long irons. My lowest is 6. :o

More than happy with my set up. Cheers though.
