30 putts today

30 putts is any good.

No three putts is very good.

May last year, I had a round with 8 putts on the first 7 holes.
Next 11 holes were totally uninteresting in terms of putting stats, but I felt that I played all the other shots much better over those holes.

3rd hole is the longest par 4 on the course.

Depends what you are comparing it against. If you usually take 40+ plus putts then yes, if you are comparing against a pro then not so good 😊

The gross score is what really matters, but 30 putts is decent unless you are literally chipping from inside 20 yards on every hole.
Jamie is a decent putter - but due to his size he isn't making a lot of GIR's, so as mentioned above - it's a factor, but he will take less than 30 putts if he posts a good score, if he's over 30 putts, it's not a good score. Last time out he had 25 putts and shot 2 over par - now if he was a smidgin over 6 foot like his fatha, and was shooting 2 over gross with 25 putts the alarm bells would be ringing. 😂

Some context required but I don't think 30 putts is ever going to be bad, unless your chipping was world class and your first putt was from 4 feet every time. If I get 30 putts on a round at my place I'm delighted, since all our greens are on lethal slopes. Very rare that I managed no three putts too.
