I have acquired a Titleist 906F4 18.5 degree 5 wood with a Regular VS proto shaft in it.
For the first time in years I have a fairway wood that feels right and comfy and also goes well and far. Had it 3 weeks and I havn't hit a poor shot with it yet.

My problem is this.
I have a Cally FT 3 wood 15 degree draw bias. It goes ok but I struggle to get any real height on the shot.
Is it reasonable to assume that a Titleist 906F4 15.5 3 wood will feel the same and go as well as the 5 wood in the same spec?
This is an old club now (replaced by the 909 series) so trying one is going to be tricky. Its just that the 5 wood goes so well I'd like to think the 3 will go well too....

I've tried the F2 varient before and didn't really get on with it - the F4 seems to suit better.

Help.......

Hi, I see the cally 3 wood is draw biased?
That would mean its closed at address which would account for you hitting it lower. Is it stiff or reg shaft?

I had a similar situation recently. I bought a used Cally GBB II 3 wood which I found easy to use so when I saw the GBB II driver on eBay I bought that and now have a very reliable driver and 3 wood. Older clubs can be a great bargain and perform as well as new ones for me.

For sure. I had an original BB 5 wood with a re-shafted TT DG Reg. I saw a steelhead 2 5 wood in graphite for about £30 and picked it up. Sweet club.....very reliable and LONG too, which is good, as I use it as a distance munching club on long holes.

For sure
Is 'certainly' not the english way of saying that?

Ooohh, look at you go!!!

I like to mix up my style a little, despite the 1st class degree....

If it's proper-like english that youre' wanting, I could be a lett down.

Yeah it's just that it's my favourite 'hate'. Every F1 driver without english as their primary language, seems to start every sentence with it. Transatlanticisms at their worst! soz!

I wouldn't take it as gospel that if one of a set of woods suits you! that they all will, manufacturers do not swing match clubs and so it may be possible that the 5 wood in this set swings completely differently to the 3 wood!

I would sugest trying it! and make sure you try it properly don't make any adjustments to your swing and if it doesn't work in the first few swings ... Bin it!

Nothing wrong with having a mixed selection of clubs in your bag! always check out "AHEM!! Golf Digest's!" What's in the bag feature! most play with a Bertie basset bag!
