I know this has already been covered before, but I think this may be slightly different.
Whilst in Athens this week I texted a golfing mate of mine to find out what was going on this weekend at the club and to get a chance to try out the new 'big stick'.
Anyway, there is a three club comp on Sunday, so I'm sticking my name down. Normally, anyone I've known who plays these gets three clubs, and then their putter.
Ours is apparently only 3 clubs, including your putter.
I'm stuffed if I know which clubs to take. I was thinking Driver, 8 iron and putter. Only problem here is if I land in a bunker, the chances of me getting out with an 8 are very slim, but I can't go Driver, PW and putter, as that seems ridiculous.
Is there anyway you can get more distance out of a shorter iron than you would playing it normally? Would putting it back in your stance tend to get you more distance, or alternatively, what are my chances of getting out of links bunkers with an 8 iron?
Not really the round I was looking for on my first game back for 4 weeks!!!
Any advice?
