Actually, I have another grumble - if you are listing Hammett/Hetfield and various others, why is Kerry King not listed with the late, great Jeff Hahnemann?

@cliveb please tell me you didn't type that up yourself!

I'm often surprised that people rate The Edge so highly. You'd think he invented echo/delay or something. Does he ever play anything that's technically difficult? And he has a silly name.

Been playing guitar for 30 years, and I couldn't name 50, let along that many.

My faves are Andy Timmons, Slash, Andy James, Alan Nimmo (Big cousin), Mark Knopfler and Ritchie Sambora

Off to see a night with the legend that is Francis Rossi of Status Quo later this month with Missis Tash. Suprised he is not in the top ten 😁👍

Status Quo legend Francis Rossi is taking up his acoustic guitar to bring you a selection of well-known hits and some previously not-performed-live-before tunes. It’ll be a unique evening in which Francis will reprise fan favourites from a remarkable 50+year career. Expect original, acoustic versions of Quo classics, threaded together with chat in this music based evening. VIP packages are available for those wishing to meet Francis before the show.

Glen Campbell in there? He was an awesome guitarist, both solo on his own stuff as well is in The Wrecking Crew.

Good that Steve Hackett is listed…I get the impression that Tony Banks sometimes rather wished he wasn’t quite as good and quite so key to the Genesis sound of the Hackett era.
Glen was a brilliant player ,if he's not in the list then the list is crap

Tommy Emmanuel and Michael Hedges are another two notable omissions in my opinion. I saw Tommy in Bolton quite a few years ago and he was just incredible.

I have seen Status Quo live (about 50 years ago) and they were certainly entertaining.
But I don't think a guy who only uses three chords deserves to be in a list of the greatest 😆

Self indulgent claptrap at best.

If the list maker called it a list of their favourites - then I'd have no issue. But define "greatest" - an impossible question.

A skill like this can only ever be subjective. What are you measuring them against??

It’s a bad list but the one positive I can say about it is that it does at least recognise Prince near the top. However…

No Bob Dylan. If you include Joni Mitchell you should include Dylan by the same measure.
