Three blobs on the back nine this morning, which is ridiculous as the back nine is easier than the front! Not counting my scores at the turn again!

Ah we have all been there and done it! I bet if was offerered 34 at the start of the round you may have taken it? I bet you was thinking 43 points after you had counted up the front 9 :)

I rarely know what the score is at halfway - there's just no point. Its the score after 18 I'm interested in.

after a

22 out 16 back
and
21 out 14 back (that got me a .1)

i feel every ounce of your pain .. think im trying too hard to get cut ..

@ Birchy and Hobbit .. how can you not know how you are playing ? just curious coz id always have a fair idea of my score points or strokes as i go along

I just play the round shot by shot. After ive played one shot its done then onto the next one. I only count up my score each hole to write it down. I don't count up hole after hole as im going along, obviously i have an idea if im playing bad or good but not exactly how bad or good.

As soon as you start thinking ive got 2 shots left or im 5 under and stuff like that your mindset changes and you play differently imo. I try and approach every hole the same from start to finish, everybody should have an idea how to play each hole best and stick to that unless theres circumstances forcing otherwise like matchplay etc.

So so wish i could do that ha

Had the same on Sunday, 20 points going out with a stupid blob on the 5th and 1 pointer on the 8th, came back in 15 points with 3 more blobs.

The couple of horror holes are costing me from shooting a really low score.

Would love not to know, but whoever's last in the 3ball or the last 2 in a 4ball buy brekkie at the halfwayish hut! Even without the halfwayish hut someone has to pipe up and tell everyone the scores :temper:

I know how you feel mate, I've done that quite a lot.
I'm going to try and not count up my score in future because I can't help but think about how many under I am and what score I might end up with.
But in the end I don't carry on playing decent golf and end up with a over par score.

I know if I'm playing well but I don't know the score. Bad shots are pretty much forgotten within a couple of holes - there's just no mileage in thinking about the last shot, especially a bad one.

I have come home in the proverbial ambulance many times after a good start. I know I get ahead of myself at times and the monkey mind wins and I start thinking about what I need to do, my technique etc. Basically everything I shouldn't do. Funnily enough when the good scores come, I am playing one hole at a time and never give my golf a second thought nor what I may need to do coming home to post a score

At my home course I check after 6, 12 and 18. Find it works better for me, and it suits the layout of the course.

I'm still able to play shot by shot and hole by hole, don't think it affects me too greatly, although I did totally bottle it on the 18th my last two rounds haha.
