Perhaps expectations are just too high. While it would be great to always have the course in good condition the UK's weather and cost might mean that sometimes it ain't practical.

Enjoy the fact that we can play at a reasonable cost and, in the vast majority of circumstances, its not that important.

The grass will recover very quickly in spring. Roots will still be there and many grass types will sprout new growth. They will be more than playable

I played yesterday and one can almost see the grass growing now its a bit warmer. We were on compulsory mats but the green manager has now made them optional

from the tone of some of the guys yesterday, we could be on PL for the first few months of the season and possibly even mats on some holes due to all the course changes, maybe on at least 8 holes around the greens

I know the weather varies from region to region, but am surprised at how many folk seem to say their grass growth hasn't really recovered from last summer yet. Given the autumn/winter we've had, the grass at ours has only just stopped growing.

Having said that, we'll be on PLs for a while yet, due to muddiness.
