2017 non golf goals

I have been trying to retire for a number of years but have bottled taking the final step every time... Have attended a funeral of a couple of good mates the week before and the week following Xmas.. Two good people who were only a few years ahead of me... One of my friends suggested I adopt the view of ceasing work as being unemployment rather than retirement... A change in mind set might just help me make the decision I have been stumbling over...

I was all set to retire at Christmas 2015 but got enticed to stay on. Fantastic job opportunity and challenge but knackering and stressful. Was asked for 3 more years but offered two. The boss is now talking about 5 years, and I'm wishing I'd stuck to my original plan.

If you've got the opportunity, only you can choose but you can't buy back missed opportunities.

You know my story Bri, 6 months in and loving every minute of it, even when the wife has been ill during that time, the peace of mind of being there for her and no time constraints or worry about work piling up has been invaluable, different for everyone, but certainly the right decision for me.

Get more healthy, pass CISSP exam, new job or promotion and finally finish renovating my house!

So, how did we all do?

I didn’t get more healthy!
I passed the CISSP exam, and the CISM exam!
I didn’t get a new job or promotion!
And I nearly finished renovating my house!

Official retirement date, 26th Jan, but finished work on the 11th Dec.

Unfortunately, fly back the week after for an op. A few weeks to recover then, hopefully, golf in the sun.
