i had one of these for a while. when i first got it, it made a difference on the longer putts however over time i started to struggle with the shorter putts. i then went back to the normal grip and all is well

I put one on an Odyssey 2ball earlier this year. Weight of the grip really altered the feel of the putter which I couldn't get used to.
I didn't like it so sold the putter on, I do know some folks who are putting well with one however.
Worth experimenting with, if you don't try it you'll never know.

Thats it fitted, I will try it over the next few days and report back. It certainly promotes more of a shoulder rock than a conventional grip minimising wrist breakdown during the stroke.

Anything is worth a try.!

I have kept stats of every competetive round I have played this year, medals/outings/ties. I average 34.7 putts per round which for a 5 handicap player I find unacceptable and its very clear where I can clip/shave some strokes.

I mainly 2 putt but I throw in 2 or 3 three jabs every round and its so dam destroying and annoying.

On the plus side, since changing to that Tour burner driver I am sitting at 87.3% fairways hit!!!! Monty watch oot her I come.

I have been considering one of these for a while. I really like the idea and I am sure it would help with my stroke however I love the feel of the stock grip on my BC3 which is in the bag, so I am currently reluctant to change. Please do give us a report on overall effectiveness, and whether or not it does have negative implications for the feel / weighting of the putter, as I would like to give one a go myself. But like I say I'm pretty apprehensive, especially as I'm putting reasonably well.

I tried one in the pros shop he had on a Yes putter for one of the members and to be honest it didn't feel comfy at all. I get the principle but didn't feel happy over the ball. I'll stick to using my Eyeline mirror to check my basics and maybe a putting lesson once every 6 months to check everything is working as it should. I love my grip on my odyssey 554 and I'm putting pretty well at the moment.

I fitted one on my Ping Anser and removed it after about 6 rounds. As has been said, the weight throws the balance of the putter.

Initial report.

I have played a few rounds now, a work competition yesterday and a tie today.

As I posted earlier, if you are very "wristy" or you feel that your stroke breaks down through the ball than this grip can help in my opinion. I have been the opposite of what one poster already said about feeling more comfortable on the long putts but not so on the short testy ones. I really struggled at first to get the ball to the hole and left myself a good few 6-8 foot range putts to salvage par. Thankfully they were all made.

Today I putted quite solidly and I'm now starting to get the range correct for longer putts. I holed out well and even battered home a 35 footer at 17 to go one up!

I will persevere for a while longer and see how it goes and whether I notice any more of an improvement or not. That will be the deciding factor in the end. Stats dont lie if your honest!

I have the 2Thumb lite and dont know if that makes any sort of difference as to be honest I dont notice a great difference in the way the putter handles or feels. Just rock the sholders and the putter feels fine to me. So far its swaying more towards positive report than negative or even middle of the road. I will report back again in a week or two with more progress.

Great :D That's just what I was hoping to hear to be honest. I await your further report and will definitely be looking into this now I know there is a lite version, which shouldn't alter the playing characteristics of my putter too much.

Out of interest why do you think you were misjudging / leaving short the longer putts? As a result of not using a slight wrist action to get the ball to the hole? (which I would take as a positive as in the long run it will make your distance control more consistent) Or due to it just feeling quite a lot different / taking some getting use to subconsciously?

I think its just the radically different way of gripping compared to 20 years of holding a putter "normally"!. I was feeling that I had to hit the ball and was possibly comming up and out of the longer putts.

Once I got to grips with the way the putter swung I have so far been fine.

My pro insisted I let him fit one of these to my odyssey no7 because of how I grip the club. He said if I didn't like it, atleast i'd tried it and we would come up with something else.

I didnt like it and now have one sitting in my locker at the club.

Eagle, if you want it, you can have it for a £5er plus postage. should be about half price of a new one.

See alot more guys on tour using these now!

OK,

I have had this on the putter now for about 10 or so days and I am very very pleased with it. I just happened to notice that Nick Doherty is using the exact same 2thumb light red grip as I fitted so it cant be that bad!!!

I now feel comfortable with the grip and unlike at first where I had to think about how I was gripping the club its second nature. I really like the stroke I get.

What I have noticed is that (in my experience/opinion) you need to putt from the middle of the stance or just slightly behind middle of your stance which I find works best especially for long putts.

Is this staying in the bag? 100% absolutely. I would encourage anyone who has thought about it to give it a try, what have you got to lose.
