nice one keep playing and you will go down !

I got my 3 cards in last month, got my handicap of 24 & entered my first competition yesterday, did ok, got 28 points. Get your 3rd card in as quick as possible.

I've just completed my second handicap round today too. First card was an 86, today was a 92. My putting was better than last time I played, but had a a couple of thinned and duffed chips, which are reeeeeeeaaallly annoying.

Good work! and it's only May so you should be sorted for the summer!

Don't make the school boy error i did, when i first joined my club i got my three cards in quickly for my first official handicap, fell in with a great crowd and played fiddles the rest of the year, went to sign up to the big club comps the following year only to find out i didn't qualify as i'd only put three cards in and i needed four to be eligible!!!!.......doh!

I was so excited to get my cards in last year. I had a trip up to Manchester planned which conflicted with a Saturday rol-up at my club, so cancelled my trip for it, (though the roll-up was then cancelled too...I showed up, but it was just me and the Cap'n in the clubhouse, chatting and watching the rain.)

My three cards were 26-over!, 15-over and 14-over, and my initial handicap was 16.

got my 2nd in now. have had a 92, with an 11 on the par 5 last, and 88 with an 8 on a par 4. i've been told they'll be counted as 88 and 86 for calculations.

does anyone have an idea please of what to expect? do they literally just take an average of the 3 cards? thanks

It always used to be the avarage of the 3 cards, but now I believe its the lowest card. Have a look on the CONGU website, I had a brief look but couldn't find it, but it must be there somewhere.

Just found this somewhere else....

How do we calculate your handicap in the first instance?
We take the 3 scorecards you have submitted and then we calculate the 'nett differential score' for each card and choose the best card.

The 'nett differential score' = your gross score MINUS course SSS (standard scratch score)

However, in accordance with CONGU rules, we reduce any holes that are greater than 2 shots over par to be 2 shots over par. So, if you achieved a 7 on a par 4 then for the purposes of your handicap, we reduce it to 6.

So it looks like it is the best of the 3 cards. Also they will only count upto double bogie as you said.

thanks for that. looks like about 14 then, seems about right as my society handicap is 12.

just handed my cards in done the last one today . what a shocker it was too. 63 on the front and 46 on the back should have handicap next week.
