Played my first round of 2011 today, and really enjoyed it.

IMurg and I teed off around 9.30 with nobody else in sight on the course.

I hadn't played for 6 weeks due to work commitments and the bad weather, so decided to try and "just swing the club, keep it simple and don't try to hard!" seemed to work, hardly missed a fairway, although not going very far. Hit some solid fairway woods and shots into the greens were OK.

Putting, always my weakness, was pretty solid, set myself the task of being more positive with the short stick and it worked!

IMurg played much the same, he hadn't played for a few weeks either.

Got round in good time, no lost balls to hunt for no slow play ahead of us, and managed to score 34 points with a daft blob on the 17th! IMurg came in with 33 pts.

All in all a very enjoyable round of golf.......now if only the rest of the year stays the same...........!

Point of the post is that my New Year's golf resolution is to play with the same mind set if I can!

I'll drink to that.

Or i would if the bar hadn't run out of beer!!

Fairly pleased with my effort today, a couple of doubles but a couple of birdies too. Putting was tricky, greens slow and bobbly. Still, it's good to be back out again and if the snow holds I'm doing it all over again tomorrow!

Roll on Spring!

sounds like a good day was had, i started the new year with pretty much the same mindset, swing easy and enjoy. Come in with 37points, one under h/c with a gross 87, most shocking stat was fairways hit, 13/14, 2 double mid round ruined a bloody good card. Roll on sunday!

Supposed to be Medal day tomorrow and all was looking good until about an hour ago since when it's bee absolutely persisting down! More rain forecast over the next 12 hours, so I reckon the course is likely to be flooded/closed by the morning :(

Snowing really heavy here at the moment. My 9.32 tee time in the morning doesn't look good

With all this modern technology at our finger tips, you'd think they could up anchor and take this island 2000 miles south to warmer climate

Was going out again today. No snow just Ryder Cup style rain!
Course is open - even though it shouldn't be - but the greens were starting to submerge so we scratched.
PGuess what?

The Sun's out now.

Bloody weather

After pulling out off 2 rounds on Sunday and Monday due to a bad back (played on NY eve) i was looking forward to playing in our Captains Drive In/Out on Sunday but with the boatbuilders doing a roaring trade this morning with the amount of rain in london this morning, not sure if the course will be open.

Thinking about it, I believe the the London Boat Show starts today?
