Had a quick review with the pro tonight and I have an over the top swing. Only been playing 6 months and looking forward to it. Ive booked a batch of 4 lessons, how often is recommended I should have them?

Well done!

Have them as often as you can afford them!

Your pro will give you some things to work on. If I was a betting man, I'd guess that the first lesson will involve Grip, Alignment, Stance and Posture (GASP).

You'e paid upfront so don't be in a rush to go for lesson number 2 until you feel you've mastered lesson number one.

My only piece of advice- if you don't understand something- ASK!

Enjoy!

I have signed up for an academy course with my pro, 2 lessons a month and a playing lesson every 6 weeks. struggled to do the drills this week due to weather, hopefully have done enough to move forwards but not worried if not as its a long haul thing.

yeah i was thinking 2-4 weeks so i have time to work on what hes suggested. The young pro has been giving me some help recently so ive changed my grip recently anyway as it was too strong. The lessons should save me some money anyway as i was blaming the clubs lol

Its never the clubs its always us ;)

Good luck with the lessons

What ever you do just make sure you do what feels best for you and what feels natural

Get the most amount of enjoyment you can out of it

i agree on some parts but i went today after shopping so didnt have my clubs so just used the stock g25 and what a difference. I was hitting it straight, high and long. Couldnt believe the difference. Wish i just went home instead of picking it up lol

1st lesson done, grip changed slightly, posture changed alot, stance changed so toes point out slightly and swing plain being worked on lol.

My god its hard lol, at least I have things to wok on and only 1 way to go. Main thing is to sort the over the top swing out and manage to hit the longer clubs without a slice.

All in all im glad ive done it, got loads to practice and hopefully will be able to see the difference by the next lesson in 2 weeks.

Good news. It's never easy to make changes. Just stick at it. Never get down if it doesn't work straightaway. Keep plugging away and it will come.

my biggest tip is do the drills and dont go near the course until the changes feel natural. Otherwise its a waste if money as pretty much guaranteed once on the course the old swing/habits creep back in especially if not playing well.

Keep us posted

Been through this and initially I was having one lesson a week.

My logic was that if things slipped I didn't want to spend two, three or four weeks practicing something incorrectly.

Good luck with your lessons. If he's anything like as good as mine, your teacher will decide the intervals at which you have them. He will expect you to work at the drills that he has given you, and then you should see progress. But please be patient, as even small improvements take a long time to bed in.

Yes hes given me a number of drills and said 2 weeks would be best as I practice 3-4 times a week. He said if I have any problems then I can bring the lesson forward. Pulled a muscle in my back last night so may need to push it back if I cant practice

That's not so good. Did you hurt your back at the range? I have a course of lessons booked for once a month, and my teacher also said that I can contact him in the meanwhile if things go pear shaped.

My group lessons are usually fortnightly as the Pro knows I practice in between. Sometimes do go longer though depending on when the others can go along. He's always on hand though to double check if I've any queries.

Be prepared for the feeling of two steps forward and three steps back sometimes.

Dont think ot helped but had a bit of a bad back the day before. Wouldnt have gone if I didnt have the lesson. Oh well it will get better.

I started hitting better towards the end of the lesson and happy with where its going.
