Had a lesson yesterday at my local driving range. I wish I had done so years ago.

I've been standing to close to the ball, a couple of other pointers in what to do etc and I was hitting them lovely.

Then it seemed to go all wrong, next 10 balls slices, shanks you name it I was doing it. I was trying to hard on the new things taught. However my the end of the lesson I had alot more confidence in what I was doing. Going back in a couple of weeks time to have another lesson. Back up the range in a couple of days to have a practice then out next Tuesday.

Its good to get the basics right. The trick is believing what the pro has told you is right and not to revert to old habits especially on the course after a bad shot. Keep the faith and stick with the drills

I had my first lessons early this year. The key for me was making sure I bedded in the changes on the range before I played another round.

It may just be a personal thing for me but i just found if i went out for a round and then tried thinking about all the things my pro had told me my game went to bits.

Now after a lesson I'll have 2-3 sessions on the range before my next round so next time I swing a club in anger the changes are just there and I don't have to think about it.

I booked a pack of 5. 1st I had a basic setup lesson. Then we focussed more on my swing plane on the second. The third was a short game lesson and I had a driver lesson last time. Usually allowing about a month between them so I don't change too much too quickly.

I'll probably have a session with the putter this month, then I'll probably book an hour on course lesson.

Out of all of them the short game lesson has worked wonders. The amount of shots a round I've saved by not duffing chips and chipping it much closer for easy putts is unreal.
