Trust me it is not a hissy fit. I don't see the point in putting up with direct and vindictive abuse because of an opinion I thought was valid and well argued.

Dodger, it might be banter to you but I thought some of your comments were cutting, out of context and unjust.

The PM came from someone on here who I thought was a decent bloke. Little point in naming names as there will be the usual denial and even if he got blocked they will only rejoin under a different name at some point
 
Cant one of the mods just remove this post and we all get on with our lives... ie. start posting about golf again?

Well Homer I just can't see where your coming from sorry, cutting, out of context and unjust...? You have then taken them hugely the wrong way,how peoples humour differ as do their opinions.

Also IMO you need to contact the mods re the PM'S, it's either put up or shut up I feel,would be defeating the object of having mods if you don't let them know what was said.

Homer - you have to do something about the PMs with the mods so the person can get banned and then the IP address can get barred too....

I'm sure an Administrator can read the PMs anyway to see what got posted and by who.....

Alchemy and dodger were saying that Rory was going to win loads this year, even a Major
And Homer was saying he wasnt so sure but given time he hoped he would.
Is that the jist?

Yes, problem was, Homer also wished people would stop singing Rory's praises and I disagreed. He also stated that Rory had choked a few times and Dodger disagreed, no biggies but kinda got out of hand for some reason. Then, to make matters worse, an unknown has sent H a PM full of abuse.
 
Not quite bob,

Others think McIlroy is the biggest thing in golf right now and I disagreed and got abuse and sarcasm. It was the point that those named seem to continually have a dig irrespective of the topic and my opinion that hacked me off.

Anyway enough time wasted. Enjoy the forum.
 
Any abuser can be blocked and also have their IP address blocked which means they would have to change address or IP provider to re-register.

I started this thread as a bit of a back slapping and a proud moment that we had reached 100,000 posts.
 
Thought you were away Homer ;) Its the draw of the forum, you just cant leave..... People will fall out, its life get over it and either leave or stay the course and laugh about it later.

Im not a huge poster but check in most days. Personally if someone pmd me abuse I would cut and paste it for all to see. Its sometimes hard on screen to see the context of things but from the outside looking in its all a storm in a tea cup.

As for Wee Rory....I just love him and cant watch to see him live at the OPen this summer.

Homer if your leaving then Ive enjoyed your posting, maybe not always agreed with them, but then I dont agree with all posts all the time.
If your staying then forget about it and carry on regardless.

If your going enjoy your golf but remember Man Utd after Cantona left.....there still there. Likewise no one poster is bigger than this forum.
 
Not sure where I go from here but enough already. Time to move on and for forummers to get back to talking about golf. I may pop up. I may come back as vocal as ever. Not sure yet but enough is enough on this thread and my views on McIlroy.

Homer, even if you are from now on to ignore every post the offending party places in the public domain, and refrain from engaging in discussions with those you feel have acted wrongly against you do you really think it is worth quitting something you yourself have promoted as such an enjoyable and great place to be, over what are essentially words that are more than likely meaningless.

It's your decision but to me you will be cutting your nose to spite your face if you quit in this instance. There are still plenty of forumers who hold your opinion in high regard and enjoy your input (myself included- I have grudges against nobody on here :D) so is it really worth quitting over? I definitely think (disregarding the PM as I don't know what was said) that you are perhaps blowing this needlessly out of proportion and if you do feel intreated by certain parties just ignore them in the future and carry on as your usual happy self.

I won't say anything more on the subject but just think is this what you really want, or is there a way to be the bigger man and just ignore what has been said and move on?

I definitely think you should stick around if not for anything else to enable you to continue fulfilling your role with the magazine.
