Hello all

Ive been experimenting with choknig down on my 3 wood and driver grips to give me more control and it seems to work really well without much distance loss.

My driver is 45" and 3 wood 43", this seems to be standard but quite long.

Im thinking of trimming 1" or maybe 1/2" off the shaft.

Anyone else had good results with shorter shafts?

Mattie

I would say cut an inch off.
If you dont like it stick an inch back on again. Takes 5 mins with the right tools.
And before people come on here and tell you it will alter this and change that with your D2s and D7s, just try it and see.

You do realise that this common sense approach will stifle about 37 different theories, possibly including carrying 43 pence in loose change in the left hip pocket, to counteract the unwanted 1 inch of club length ?

Shame on you Bob. :)

I find wearing golf shoes with Cuban heels has the same results and is a lot cheaper

But surely they shorten the length on the white trousers Smiffy? :p

That's not a problem, his white chinos are the short variety that come down just passed the knees and pockets on the outside :D

im sure rgdave did this with great results.

Yes. All my drivers are/have been cut to 45" except the Spine, which is 44.75"

I still don't hit the ball far, but I do find the middle of the club with frightening regularity.

I never found choking down to be an alternative.

I took almost an inch of my driver. Did it myself and I dont slice any where near as much as I did. I tend to overswing on a bad day and a shorter shaft is better for that problem than a longer one.

I've never tried it personally but I know people who have with excellent results.
