Seem to remember Hirsel (lovely course) having a par three that plays uphill with the green being over the crest and then down hill so you couldn't see the green at all. The anticipation of who was closest was great as we walked up the fairway...
Bit further along from Shad Thames is Borough Market - that's a must visit place through the day with lots of "al fresco" eating places and as busy and buzzing market as you will find anywhere.
and this is the bit that is confusing me. In my hypothetical situation I did not ask them to attend the flag and certainly from 150yds away to my knowledge they were not attending just standing near the flag..but in one of the earlier answers it appears that just by being in close proximity to...
So just to get this clear in my mind - I lose my ball somewhere near the green so walk back up the fairway say 150 yards to replay the shot, whilst I am doing this my playing partners putt out to keep things moving. They then put the flag back in the hole but remain at the side of the hole. I...
Thanks for all the suggestions and offer to sign on. There's certainly plenty of choices. Will let you all know which we decide on. For me Hirsel looks pretty good for driving time wise and seems a good price at £25.
Thanks for the suggestions did Goswick 2 years ago - fantastic course and would go back in a flash but the guys want to try somewhere different. We looked at north Berwick but they were talking silly money this year as its being set up for a big competition? Yep we are aware about Bruntsfield...
I'm looking for suggestions for a reasonably priced course for four golfers in the borders to play on our way up to east Lothian in April. We're driving up from Yorkshire so we'll be coming up the A1 and/or cutting across towards Selkirk so lots of scope for courses. Last year on the way up we...
Best (amatuer) player I saw chipping was one of my old playing partners and he was all arms and no wrists at all. He hit his chips so hard and they always stopped on a sixpence at the side of the flag. If I tried to do the same it resulted in thinned chips or ones that rolled for ever virtually...
Hit somebody once when a pulled approach to the green deflected off the trees. Didn't shout fore as nobody saw where the ball went and the guy it hit was on the next fairway behind a hedge. Hit him on the chest - he was not best pleased. Apologies didn't seem to be enough that day but now when...
Maybe not quite what the OP meant I know but there's been far far far too many bad ones to retake, but the best I have ever hit and would love to do again was from the 16th tee at Bamburgh (which is pretty much a blind tee shot) - a 3 iron somehow 264 yards to the front edge of the green that...
Thanks for the quick reply and if the ball was not replaced, is the penalty with that player for playing a ball from the wrong position? i.e the penalty would not be with me even though I (my ball) caused his ball to move.
Ball hits ball on fairway ruling please
Playing 2nd shot on par 5 hitting 3 wood - ball travels approximately 200 yards and hits FC's ball laying on the fairway who had already played, deflecting both in opposite directions. Now i know if this happened on the green we would have to replace FC's...
If you can do Goswick whilst you are up there then do it. It's one of the best courses I have ever played and would be back there in a flash. We are even thinking of playing it again on our way up to east Lothian on our golf trip next year
