Back when I was on the committee the manager used to get complaints about players booking early but he could tell from the software exactly what time they booked. How do tell if someone booked at precisely the right time by using a script or by superfast broadband and fingers?
I have both but have not used the GPS on my home course for years .
Even the laser only comes out occasionally as I have played my home course for decades and know my club selection by where the ball is relative to course distance markers , trees etc
The laser gets used for temporary greens...
Pre everyday booking when the club stopped using the proshop we had a ball shoot which the starter put out at 7.15. Players used to turn up at 5 in the morning to start a queue to get a ball in to the shoot, some used to work out roughly when they would be going out, co home and come back...
3 clubs walk in to a bar
"I'll have a pint" says the 6 iron
"I'll have a whisky" says the wedge
The barman turns to the third club and asks
"What can I get you"
the third club replies "nothing for me I am the driver".
Certainly not one for us. People used to get to the club at 5.00 o'clock in the morning to try to be first in line for when the pro shop opened at 7.15.
Yes probably silly of me to compare a 1990 basic diesel with todays modern turbo charged ones. Diesel efficiency has seen big improvements since that time
From memory my transit would do 35 mpg at best.
1. Clearly you know that but in my experience on the HCap committee Cat 1s often manipulated their handicap by not returning cards that would make them go out, at least the WHS has stopped this by applying a penalty score.
2. The next day, however under the UHS if the score meant a downwards...
But that is the same as having four bags of say cement in a van.
Not range but performance- I have had cars that I noticed the difference with a passenger in the car.
I used to drive a 2.5 litre diesel Transit and used to notice the difference when it was loaded up when we went on holiday...
How has the current system made it easier?
I do not know what system you had under the UHS, where I play it was simply walk in to proshop, sign the book and return the card at the end of the round.
Surely this is about range rather than power. Probably simply more noticeable on an EV than a diesel.
The other thing to consider is that with an ICE vehicle the weight goes down as you drive along but it remains constant with an EV
