Things That Gladden The Heart

So young Bradley Tash who has had some strange friends over the years, has been building a “ den” over the last few days. As with all dens, it is in a secret location. Anyway he has been building it with a new friend called Ronnie. So I said Heyup to him when They walked up to the house. I was in the man cave. Ronnie said “ good morning, what is your name please, I am called Ronnie”. 😳
They went upstairs and chilled on the telly. After an hour I went in and said to Bradley “ Do you two want sausage and beans on toast with cheese, or Ravioli” “ Ravioli” was the reply. Only Ronnie had never had Ravioli before. Ronnie said “ are you sure”. I was puzzled. “ sure of what” I asked Ronnie. “ Having dinner here”. 😳
Anyway they whoofed it down. Afterwards Ronnie said it was gorgeous. He only wanted water to drink.
I have never seen a kid with manners so impeccable. Both me and Missis T were massively impressed with Young Ronnies manners for a 12 year old.

The wife has a games night for some of the younger elements of her extended family once a month on a Saturday night. Usually get about eight come round to ours. I sit in TV room. Last night they were obviously enjoying a game, as I listened in. It was a game I bought last year. A game from my youth called Wembley. I suggested to the wife for them to play it as they all have favourite teams. Well the noise got louder. It's a great game, but with a bit of a twist. If one of your teams is one you hate, it's bitter sweet if they win, and keep winning, right up to the final. They then moved on to Bobby Charlton's football game. It's from the early 70's. I paid a bit for this off e bay. That again raised the roof. It's good to know that the old games I played as a kid still entertain the kids of today.

Have you got Escalado from the 50's as well? 👍

Spent a fair bit of the day making a chicken balti from, almost, scratch. As per usual, there were extra spices & peppers, AND to sweeten it a little a tin of Heinz beans. Jury is out on the beans. Yes they made a difference but not sure if they improved it or not.

To add sweetness to a home made curry I always add two large dollops of Geeta's Mango Chutney.
Works a treat.

A bit chilly/breezy in Bradgate Park today, but managed to grab a quick shot when some deer crossed our path with "Nine Day Queen" Lady Jane Grey's house in the background.
Beautiful creatures.

There were about 20 of them in a line, we had to wait, hence time for a photo.

Got a family day planned today.
Had to change plans a bit to accommodate the latest addition but pub lunch arranged with my sister and her brood and my parents.

They will take it in turns to see my daughter and her baby. (5 minute walk from pub to her house).

My mum can’t wait to see her great granddaughter for the first time and my dad has said he can’t wait to get drunk 🤣.

Can’t beat a day getting everyone together as it gets more difficult as everyone gets older.

Had a great day yesterday with all the family.
Lunch and a few drinks and my mum met her great granddaughter for the first time.
Lots of laughs and smiles all day.
Head is a bit sore this morning as my dad insisted on us opening a bottle of whisky last night if the girls made him watch MAFS.
Everyone stayed at ours and wife has done a fabulous buffet breakfast for us all.

The bill for lunch did make me gulp when it came round but worth every penny to see everyone together.

I gave blood last night. This morning I started the process of removing the military grade plasters that they use. It normally takes a few days, bit by bit, each step being suitably painful. This one came off in one smooth go, no pain involved 😊
I used to give blood but not any more. Not the reason why I don’t now, but it used to make me feel awful afterwards. It used to drain out of me like the nurse had opened a valve on a 1/2” pipe. Made me go really light headed for a couple of hours.

My wife does it, has no impact on her whatsoever. I feel a bit weaker after but nothing major. It clearly affects people differently, funny old stuff.
