    2017 Open Championship

I've added Soren Kjeldsen e/w at 175/1. Top 10 finish at Dundonald Links and had two good rounds at Portstewart before tailing off at the weekend. He has good links golf form. As mentioned, the forecast for Birkdale this week has plenty of rain and wind and Kjeldsen had no problem getting the...

    2017 Open Championship

Justin Rose to add the claret jug to his collection at the same place he won the silver medal almost 20 years ago. He played some good golf at Portstewart, finishing 4th and it looks like he has went straight to Birkdale to get some practice in. 22/1 on Betfred.

Don't point, shout FORE you idiots!

The idea that everyone should be paying attention and not need to hear a fore shout is nonsense. I was at Portstewart on Friday and have played the course before. There are plenty of holes that back onto each other; 16, 17 and 18 being a prime example. You could very easily be standing watching...

What Football Club Do You Support?

I grew up in Belfast in the 80's where in most cases it was either Liverpool or United. Nowadays you see kids supporting all sorts of teams but not back then. My dad supported Liverpool and to be honest I don't ever remember it ever being a choice for me. I'm not sure if my dad was a glory...

    Golf On Course Snacks

40g of carbs per 100g in a wholemeal bagel and that's before you even add peanut butter and jam. There won't be much in it between that and the mars bar per 100g but seeing as a Mars bar is 58g and a bagel is 90g you're more likely to be taking on more carbs with the bagel. Either way, if you're...

    Golf On Course Snacks

I'm diabetic and used to counting carbs. Without checking, I would put money on there being more carbs in that bagel than a mars bar.

    Golf On Course Snacks

Isn't a bagel with peanut butter and jam loaded with sugar / carbs? Some of those protein bars are the same.

    How to get an adjustment?

5 under handicap wouldn't be guaranteed to win the weekend competition at our place, I'd say a lot of clubs would be the same. And even if you do shoot low numbers in a couple of competitions the ESR system (if applicable to you) will help sort your handicap out. For example, if you went out and...

Royal County Down.....what a golf course

I echo what Steve has said, a fantastic experience on an unbelievably good golf course. My first time playing it on Tuesday and as we had a few putts on the (ginormous!) practice green I was a mixture of nervous and excited. Then for a minute I started to wonder had I hyped it up too much and...

    Eagles! (Rolling Thread)

I had my first proper eagle yesterday, and what a place to do it! The 12th hole at Royal County Down. Driver right down the middle of the fairway left me 185yds, 6 iron (downwind) to the middle of the green with a 10 foot putt for eagle.
