Following on from Alchemy's thread on how he felt a little disheartened on a -1, I had a pretty good winter comp myself and whether its seen as bragging or willy wangling, I dont mind as this doesnt happen every day.
Started off with a pretty average par 4 on the first then 5, count em, 5 birdies on the trot with a bogey on the 8th and birdie on the 9th.
Was only a 9 hole comp but I have to say -5 gross for 9 holes was pretty much smile inducing. equates to 28 points also so hopefully have done well enough to win the winter comp. Roll on the 18 holer tomorrow!

I have been hitting the ball pretty well recently (before the 6 week paternity lay off) and have to admit that the 2nd hole wasnt playing its full length needing only a driver and wedge, drove the 3rd which I was happy with though.

Did the lottery afterwards too! My odyssey 2 ball was originally owned by a guy from our fourball who let me try it on a knock round, gave him 50 quid and havent looked back since, its a running joke that I should be paying commission for each putt outside 10 feet holed haha, my putting used to be atrocious.

If you'd played all 18, you could have taken the record off Christy O'C?

Hells Bells, you turned the S.I. 1 into a only-3-shots-needed.

I'm going outside for booze and fags.....

Dcb, 18 holes of the same tees tomorrow, basically the easier yellow tees with a couple of forward tees due to the winter weather.
18 holes is a different kettle of fish for me (and a lot of members here in Bangor) as the back nine is made up of shorter more technical holes including 3 tough little par 3's with tiers and a dogleg par4 si2 15th. Im just happy for the score over 9 as it should be enough to bring the bacon home.

You have every right to be happy that is tremendous golf regardless of the length of the course, which doesn't seem much shorter than some places off the whites to be honest- so hold your head high. To be able to convert the chances and keep putting yourself in the position to make the birdies is tremendous golf. Remind me what do you play off again...something low I hope!

Best of luck reproducing the form. That really is sweet- I don't think I have ever even got 5 pars in a row and I have numerously shot in the low 80's.

Wow wow woo ehhh. That's just ace I am happy to pick up 2 birdies in a round. Never mind that feast of poultry.
I always thought you played off 1 for some reason.
