What was it? How long were you playing till you put your 3 cards in?

I've only been playing 3 month and my course wants me to put my cards in so I can start playing comps. I'm just interested to see what other's got when they first got their handicap.

Er...24, I think. That was about 12 years ago. So I'd been playing 6 years (as a junior) before I put in any cards to get an official handicap. We just liked going out and playing 18 holes for fun. Never entered any comps until later on.

When I retired from Cricket at the end of the season of '92 I needed something else to do. Decided on golf and ha ben hacking around for a year do decided to concentrate on it. Spent the winter on the range trying to get to a level I thought you needed to join a Club.

4 months later I decided I was ready, joined and had my 3 cards in within a month.

Hanidcap came back at 15. Don't think I needed to spend that much time on the range.

I had been playing on and off for a year. Signed up for my first full membership at Stoke and had 3 card in within the first month and had a handicap of 27. It went up a little then dropped to 24, stayed the same then went to 22 then down to 19.6 and it has stayed there or there abouts fo the last year.

Put three cards in straight away and got a handiap of 28 I think. I was only 10 then though.

First handicap was 21 and I got that when I joined Westerham 5 years ago (since then it's come down by 1 per year). Think I got it within a month of joining, as I wanted to play in comps.

Got it off the yellows, as the guys who were signing my cards always played off them. Bit of shock in the first medal I played!!!

Probably had been playing for 13 years, but very much on and off, and never in competitions.

My first handicap was 14. I played to buffer most of last year after not playing golf since I was 13. I then had lessons at the start of this year, which utterly destroyed me. I have only just started to find my new swing, which is working very nicely now. I hope to move off 14 for the first time in about 15 months. Looking forward to the autumn stableford comps to bring down my handicap.

28!!! It obviously reflects my ability but has taken me 6 comps to get a .8 cut

Not happy and now putting in the practise to get below 20 by the start of 2012 :)

Four months of playing and got 20.9 now 21.3 so still 21. Unfortunately all show up as NR as I didn't know I had to input things into the computer when I got back into the club house and only one is an actual NR after giving up after 9 holes in a stroke open (54 through 8). They would still have been 0.1 back but it's looks bad. As such I am refusing to enter match play until next year at the earliest when I should have a better proven track record. In the meantime I hope to play well enough for a cut to reset me closer to original and then pick up from there. In the meantime I'll play of 21 until I hit 22 as punishment for my NR's

So 27 then. Hope you aren't entering scorecards marked as 28 HC or you'll be getting disqualified.
