Hopefully it comes to fruition- false hope is the last thing their fans need. If it’s true there is a viable bid will be interesting to see what the EFL do

Hopefully not a wind up but can/will the EFL back track now the decision has been made. Without being a doom monger, how long can they let it drag on without playing a game, and realistically will £7m actually be enough to deal with what seems complex legal issues

If I took an interest in anyone other than Newcastle then I guess it would be Notts County as a lot of the early matches that I attended as a boy were with my uncle at Meadow Lane when I'd go and visit my grandparents on holiday, so there is some affinity there.

Whilst you can't really say that any one TV broadcasters is "to blame", and good management is the responsibility of the individual clubs, it is putting your head in the sand if you dont accept that the huge financial imbalance caused by TV money is part of the problem. With the Premier League rolling in money, it not surprising that clubs in the lower leagues are pushed into paying unsustainable sums for fairly ordinary players. With Manpool Hotenal United paying players eyewatering sums to sit on their arses in the third reserves, how else do other clubs get anyone half decent to play for them?

Then you pay the players you can afford. You would be the one putting your head in the sand if you thought paying out 120-140% of your income on player salaries was the way to go forward.

I'd probably cry. I've been a Boro supporter for almost 60 years. Started going with my dad in the mid '60's, and took my sons, home and away. I've followed them through the dark days of liquidation, and padlocked gates in '86. Followed them in the all too brief forays into Europe. I've seen them around the UK, including in Scotland for the Anglo-Scottish Cup. Been a season ticket holder. And I look on their website and the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette website every single day, sometimes several times a day.

I couldn't support another team. I'd probably go and watch the odd other match as I love the atmosphere of live football but its pale if you don't have a vested interest in the result.

As for the imbalance in cash; its a business. Like it or loathe it, it is what it is. Gnashing of teeth and beating of breasts achieves diddly.

Back in 1995, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were on the verge of being sold to Peter Angelos and moved to Baltimore. I would not have supported the franchise had they moved. I would simply have become a fan of the NFL and watched all games. But the Bucs stayed. In a few years, the baseball Rays will be out of Tampa because of their stadium situation and I will once again just become a fan of baseball rather than one team.

Great club.
I remember seeing Juninho a few times in the mid 90s. Amazing talent.
Probably one of the best players Boro have ever had.
Southgate wasn't too bad either 😀

You know while I can relate to and feel for the fans I'm not sure they should be 'saved' in their current guise after missed deadlines etc

I'll wager plenty shiny pennies that if Bury Golf Club (formed just 5 years after this football club) was going to the wall, they wouldn't get all this press coverage, publicity, national groundswell of sympathy/support, time extensions, Sky countdown to die timer, multiple bailout bids etc etc

They might get a post on here with a dozen or so replies and then it'd be bye bye Bury GC, why should the towns footie club be treated differently?

Hard as it sounds, but now the EFL have made a decision then irrespective of any takeover I can't see why they'd change at this stage. Aside from anything else how many games behind would Bury be and it'll be a logistical nightmare to fit those fixtures in (over and above any further winter postponments) and places a huge demand on a paper thin squad. Let the takeover happen, but let Bury get on a firm footing and if they are good enough let them work their way through the pyramid

Never really thought about that to be honest. I have been so die-hard Bucs, it would be hard to ever support another team. I know a lot of Cleveland Browns fans refused to follow the Ravens after their move in 1996 and just waited for the new Browns franchise. Not come across a Houston Oiler fan who now supports the Texans but it's an interesting dilemma.

Not come across a Houston Oiler fan who now supports the Texans but it's an interesting dilemma.

Been a Vikings fan for years. Dad used to work for Green Giant and had to go to over there quite a bit and brought me back Vikings shirts. That said, was in the states when the Bucs won the Superbowl so still have my Warren Sapp shirt.
