Really don't see what's wrong with an OS map, a compass, and a piece of seaweed for the local weather forecast. I was a boy scout in the day (y)

Very impressive ? ?.

I have two jars of M & S brandy mincemeat sat in the cupboard that I'm going to turn into proper pies in the next week or two. Make a batch, keep some out, freeze ths rest. I have enough to see me through until October when the retail offerings return to the supermarkets ?

Well, they are back on the shelves again. :)
Is it too soon to start investigating which mince pies are best?

I use onthegomap.com https://onthegomap.com/#/create
which allows me to view all of the footpaths and roads. I'm not sure I'd trust it up mountains and the like, but it's been great for country walks round Kent.
You can map out a route too, and see how far it is, check elevation, etc. And it's free.

Will research walks online and in books, but tend to navigate on the ground using paper maps or guidebooks. And a good old ‘baseplate’ compass.
