Don't have any personal knowledge of these, however I know of the name from Rico Hizon on 5 live "wake up to money" each morning, and I know they are a big Chinese outfit who, along with Huawei, who have taken lots of sales in China from Samsung and Apple.

My best mate's got one and he's well impressed with it. Bought the Redmi and the Xiaomi Band as a stop-gap before buying the new iPhone but has decided to just keep his Xiaomi for now after being so impressed with it.
