Would you pay this for a Scotty.

That putter will fetch more than $2000. If freddie thinks it is overpriced, he is under no obligation to bid, but he doesn't need to get sniffy or bitter at the American who will buy it. Sounds a bit envious.

If that same American is able to later sell it for $500 more than he paid, are they still clueless? Value is what someone will pay, nothing more, nothing less. If someone will pay $10,000, then it is "worth" $10,000.

Circle T putters denote putters made for Tour use. Some of these find their way into the retail or collector markets. I have had a few myself.

Remember seeing an article on the Scotty Cameron Convention where he was displaying some of his collection,he showed one he made for a friend of his a New York financier, someone from the crowed asked how much he said it cost $15,000 and a year to make, beats that one all heads up.

I think alot of these guys who are collectors don't mind paying it as they see it as an art piece rather someting when stick in a golf bag.

Can someone explain to my why this putter is worth than my entire golf bag of new TM 09 range clubs. I mean it doesn’t come with a "no three put guaranty" or anything,.

Obviously by looking at the club you can see the workmanship that has gone into producing such an item, but it doesn’t look no different to some of the vokey wedges I’ve seen and their definitely not 2k each.

It is basically the same question about why a diamond costs many times more than a cubic zirconia. They both look the same to the naked eye and sit equally well on a ring or earring.

The fact is that there is a semi-buoyant market for these things, and some people like them a lot and will spend money on them. The big Cameron collectible markets are the US and Japan. The blingier putters sell very well in Japan, and Tour putters and limited editions sell well in the US. Despite his recent defection, if Tiger Woods' GSS Newport came up for sale, with an authentication certificate to prove its origins, it would sell for a serious multiple of this one.

The Tour putters are made to a higher standard, often using materials not available to the retail market, such as GSS. That may or may not make a damn bit of difference to the average 12 handicapper, however.

suppose so, but there are alot of mid range putters from ping/rossa/yes etc that surely will be just as accurate based on the same technique.

So basically owning a scotty is more about a bragging right so to speak?

No. Cameron putters are high quality putters and if they suit you, are worth it.

The Tour putters are usually bought by people who want to own something a bit different, maybe a putter made for their favourite player. They usually don't brag about it, and unless you know what to look for, you could play a round with someone and not even notice.

hmmm, for me personally id look at that 2k putter and think,
"thats one week in spain playing 4/5 rounds of golf"
and then almost another week somewhere else playing. ;)

Sorry Ethan to seem slightly dim but GSS?

What is the difference is play between a normal scotty and and tour version?

GSS is a special expensive type of steel (German Stainless Steel), which is supposed to have better feel and mechanical properties.

There is no difference in play for 99% of average golfers.

Thank you for clearing things up for me.

I'm guessing not many people outside of the tour or serious collectors know anything about GSS.

I hate all this 'waste of money' talk. How someone else spends their cash is up to them. You might find a 20 year old Lada is good enough for you to drive to work, but who here drives one. This whole more money than sense thing p's me off. Yes, there are items out there you can't afford, and don't understand. So what. There always will be, and just because someone else with more money then you buys one, doesn't make them a knob.

And no I don't own a collectors Scotty, and never will, but I don't see why the whole world should have to putt with a £50 putter just because it is okay for you lot.

Now that Tiger has changed away from Scotty, will the Scotty Brand suffer as a result.

How many people out there buy them just coz its the one that Tiger uses?

Fragger

I've heard it all now.

I don't think it will suffer. Few collectors buy Camerons because Tiger uses them, some people buy the retail versions for that reason.
