Working from Home... home office

Been working for home for over 10 years. Things I’ve learnt:

  1. Get a decent sized desk. I went to a warehouse that sold reclaimed office desks
  2. Dont skimp on a cheap chair. More adjustable the better.
  3. Spend time on getting the right posture and step up, and stick to it
  4. Take regular breaks

i have been sitting on the sofa or dinning table all day these days. Now Jr is going to start online schooling too. So looking to set up a home office. Was there someone on the forum who dealt in Sit/Stand desks? i am assuming there is a bit of demand for those at the moment.

For Londoners, the smallest/cheapest sit/stand is on offer at Costco

I might get one, as space is at a premium for us

i bought one of these a couple of years ago. Very nice, stylish and sturdy - although i only use as as a normal desk

I started WFH last Feb before I ended up being let go. Built a custom desk at 1.9M long and 0.7M deep. It houses both my gaming PC and my work laptop. Both are connected to three 27" curved monitors that wrap around the seating position to give me the best view of large data sets without screwing my eyes up (and great for games too).
Chair is Corsair gaming chair, as said above do not skimp here or it will literally bite you in the ass.

Also got a 50" TV mounted on the wall above the monitors for when I want to watch the golf ?.

In fairness, the office also doubles as my "mancave" with my Technics and digital mixer in there too.

similar to this for me, been working for myself at home for getting on 15 years, have had anything upto 6 screens at one point. currently shrunk back down to 2 screens and a wall mounted tv, a surface tablet, shelving and printer behind me and a sofa bed to the side

also have a window to the side which overlooks the garden and an aircon machine, would give almost everything up before the aircon!

oh and the chair, dont scrimp on the chair, find what works for you and pay for it, its worth it!!!!!

Wifes after a new chair and some under desk wooden pedestals , any online companies that you could suggest ? Ta.

We used to be able to wfh before the pandemic but obviously we're at home everyday now. Miss the day to day chats with the rest of the team but its helped so much at home. Can pick the boy up from school when he starts in September, I dont think my old man ever did that. They're only young once.

Chairs I would suggest looking at 'proper' gaming companies like Secret Lab or Corsair (chairs designed for gamers to sit in for long periods). As said many times, don't skimp and save yourself the hassle.

Do you mean pedestal desk or pedestal footrest?

Chairwise depends what you want to spend, can spend £50 can spend over £1000!

I bought a Secretlab Titan gaming chair for the first time last year and been really impressed with it, if you do buy one make sure you follow the size chart and personally would recommend the fabric over the PU

Old thread… anyone has any experience on Secretlab sit stand desk.. making the plunge, but looking for last bit of impartial input
