off to Woodhall Spa with the chaps soonish and wondered if anyone can recommend some decent boozers and places to eat.

Is there much of a nightlife in the town ?

From what I saw when we were there a few weeks back most of the residents idea of an all nighter is not having to get up for a pee! ;)

This about sums it up.

Best place (and only decent place) for "English" food is my rents place - The Dower House Hotel. It's top end of prices but the food is awesome - link to the hotel is in my Sig.

There's a fairly dodgy Chinese in the village called the Golden Dragon - It used to be good but the owner sold it to open the Millenium Dragon down the road in Tattershall. (5 minute drive) which is alot better.

India Village is pretty good indian fair - right on the main road. Jamal is a pretty good host.

The Silk Orchid (opposite the Mall Pub) serves REALLY good Thai and "East Asian" cuisine. It's a tiny place (seats about 30 people) but the food is usually top notch.

As far as drinking goes The Mall is the better "pub" for ales etc.. and Smarties Bar is good for watching Sport.

That's about your lot :-/

When are you going and where are you staying? I'm back up there next weekend if you need any further help. PM me if you need more info for anything.

I played the Hotchkin not long ago and did not visit a single bunker - is that some sort of first?!

When I was up there a couple of months back on the forum meet I think I visited about a dozen bunkers on the Hotchkin and managed to get out in one every time.....not that it did me any good mind!!! :D

Have a good trip - you'll have a cracking time golf-wise!

Cheers for the help guys, we played there this weekend, Saturday the Bracken, Sunday the Hotchkin. Had a top time and both courses were a joy.

But where did you eat and get your evening entertainment? ;)

Hope the weather held up for you!

We stayed in Horncastle at the Admiral Rodney, breakfast & evening meal included. We drank in the Bull Hotel mostly, the landlord was very friendly and the beer was good, stayed open late too which didnt help our golf on both days !!!

Horncastle is about a 10-15 min journey from Woodhall Spa, but prob more to do there than some of the village locations.

Would deffo go back, as playing the Hotchkin with a hangover just didnt work !!!
