As part of playing for my university golf team, we get to play half a dozen courses for free each year and tomorrow we are lucky enough to be playing at Woodhall Spa on the Bracken course!

Just hoping the weather hasn't killed the course and it's holding up.

It's a bit wet in the rough but the fairways are doing well and the greens are in really decent condition, are you playing the hotchkin as well.

No, just the Bracken. I've been warned about the massively deep bunkers
I think your confused and I am sure your on the Hotchkin, the bunkers on the bracken are a walk in the park compared to the hotchkin.

Played Spa today, in the rain, by the 3rd green squally sleet n snow put paid to the rest of the holes n had to walk in......

Well, this time yesterday I was getting rather wet and pissed off in the rain, but I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.

We teed off around 10:30 and managed to get to the 11th before the rain turned from a manageable drizzle to sideways hell!

The course, for those that have not played it is amazing, and a great test of golf. The bunkers where just unreal, fairways around 6 foot deep and the greenside ones even deeper. The greens, for winter where surprisingly quick too considering the amount of rain we have had over the last few weeks. It was just a shame that the rain spoilt the final 1/3, but I didn't have to pay for my privilege so I cannot complain.

I will definitely be persuading my dad to play here in the summer.

Sounds like the Hotchkin, rather than the Bracken.

I'll be playing both later this year and very much looking forward to it!
Yes it was the Hotchkin looking at the pictures.

Hey, could have been a lot worse, you could have thought you were on the Hotckin but ended up on the Bracken. Not that The Bracken is a bad track by any means, but the Hotchkin is just class. Assuming you are not playing in a storm.

Keep your eyes on the "Arrange a Game" section as there's a forum meet there playing both courses at the end of April (was/is full but there's bound to be some drop outs when cheques need writing)
