Women's Golf on TV

I think womens golf is boring. As they dont hit as far they are always straight. I love watching bubba and phil showing a bit of magic from knee high rough and moving balls round and under things. "women golfers..... Can you stop hitting it straight please"

Ciganda - couldn't find a fairway for love nor money, would
have struggled to find her own arse with both hands tied behind her back

Somewhat of an exaggeration. She struggled off the tee, for sure, and yet played brilliantly otherwise winning all three of her matches. Including the singles against one of the usa's "big guns" who was previously undefeated in SC singles.

Don't be so quick to denigrate, you'd be admiring big phil's scrambling ability if he produced play like that!

I agree with the fairway comment. I think she is an ambassador for the RSPCA or something because she spent a lot of time with the wildlife.

However, she played some great recovery golf and still won :D I enjoyed the yanks getting slightly excited seeing her slam it into the scrub then plop onto the green, their faces were priceless

And returning to the theme of the OP, she was hugely entertaining to watch and I want to see more!

Don't be so quick on the defensive.

Recovery skills were admired same as any males would have been, the post was a tongue in cheek response to one that jokingly berated the women for being too straight.

I played golf in Denver last year and it made zero difference to how far I hit anything, much to my disappointment.

A bit off topic, but I just thought you might be interested in a possible answer.

Less dense air = less air resistance to fight against, so a gain of distance.
Less dense air = less spin to keep it in the air, so a loss of distance.

It depends which of those 2 has most effect on your ball. Maybe yours balanced out? You should have hit the ball straighter though. :)

People don't watch the week to week women's golf. Women don't watch it. It is simple economics not misogyny.

Back in the day when Annika Sorenstam was doing her stuff, there were decent audiences, but the US audiences have been turned off by the influx of Asian players, partly because of jingoism but partly also because many of them are a bit bland and uncharismatic.

I used to watch the women's golf, but I didn't even know that whatshername had won the first 2 or 3 womens majors this year.

I have also played golf in Denver and the ball went a lot further. Which was not always helpful.

I'm going with the dodgy hire clubs preventing my natural talent from flourishing! ;)

More likely I don't hit it far enough in the first place for there to be much discernible benefit from the altitude.

hmmm .... not sure if Sky would really buy those arguments.
On the one hand they are being told 'show more female sports, we love it and we want to see it'
On the other hand 'but could you put it on to coincide with my tea...'
well you can't love it then!

Limiting the solheim cup / Ryder cup to specific time zones would limit the venues that would be able to host it. Which would not be fair on the West Coast of the USA or anywhere in Eastern Europe

You've kinda of missed the point though... I'm happy to sit up till 1.45am as I did, but maybe if it was finishing at 11.45pm then more people would have tuned in. If I saw a football match that I'm not too worried about finishing at 1.45am, I'd probably give it a miss... make it a late evening finish rather than early morning and maybe I'd tune in to watch it. It's just about making it as accessible as possible.

Didn't do Seve any harm. Having stuffed that first tee shot into a bush and unplayable on day 1 it could have affected her big time. Thought she showed some real steel and recovery skills to die for
