Looking for some help here...

Recently changed my broadband from sky to talk talk. Ipad and mobile phone have picked up wireless no problem however I cant get my advent laptop or this acer aspire to connect wireless.

They work with ethernet cable but not wireless. they both recognise talktalk and signal strength is excellent but status is limited or no connectivity....

Any ideas how to solve this.

Thanks

Can the two laptops connect to the wireless, I mean do they get prompted for the password? It could be the security has changed, the laptops maybe be on WEP and the new router is using WPA.

Make sure the wireless adapter on your laptops don't have fixed IP addresses.
If you're on WIndows 7 go to My Computer, Network, Network and Sharing Centre...the wi-fi connection should be showing in that screen.
Where it says Connections left click to the right where it should say name of connection and Wireless Network Connection or summat, click on Properties, TCP/IP4v. Both Obtain IP Address Automatically and DNS Server Automatically should be selected.
In Network and Sharing Centre, the wireless connection should be set to Home Network, clicking on this option will allow you to change the setting.
I'd also try powering off your wireless modem/router for a minute or two to clear any settings it may be using.

Good luck.

Did you change the wireless router or just the provider? Some of the new router may be on 802.1 a/b/g/n While the iPad and new toys work with all the protocols, old toys are mostly b or a.
