Hi All,

Bit of a query here. My best mate gets married next December, and in a spot of good luck, he has decided his preference for a stag weekend (or in this case full week) is a spot of golf somewhere warm.

Having never ventured anywhere other than Florida, I'm a little out of my depth here and looking for some suggestions from those in the know.

Basically, I'm looking for advice on a good place to go in October/November (2014) for a week. The idea is to play some golf, have some sun, and if its stag-friendly (i.e. isn't a ghost town - though we're not looking for magaluf either!) that would be a real bonus.

I think there will be between 6-10 people going, a wide range of golfing abilities and ages so we're probably more likely to look at good value courses, with perhaps a single round at a premium course.

As i've said, i've never done a proper european golfing holiday so if anyone out there has suggestions of where to go, how much to budget for, flights, hotels, packages - anything, any and all help will be much appreciated! We don't have a destination in mind, so i was hoping to get a view on where is good, where is cheap and where is warm that time of year - preferable one place that ticks all the boxes :D

Thanks all.

Hi mate

Down here in Spain may be a place to consider. The Costa Del Sol is littered wtih courses left, right and centre, ranging from the cheaper ones (La Canada, Estepona, Alcaidesa, Atalaya, Duquesa) to the more expensive ones (San Roque, Valderamma, Finca Cortesin, La Reserva). I mean you will defintely be spoilt for choice down here mate.

In terms of being able to go out to have a good time, then you can always pop down to Marbella and Puerto Banus where the nightlife is pretty good but nothing out of this world.

The closest airports are Gibraltar and Malaga and you can always fly down using one of the budget airlines so fares wouldnt be that expensive which would mean you could afford to perhaps play a couple of rounds at a premium course! I am sure you can probably book packages with the Hotels too which again would be precent decent seeing as a group would be travelling.

If you need any more details then just shout and i'll be glad to help!

Thanks mate, thats a great start!

Whats the temperature and weather like late October/early November? I've been charged with the task of finding golf with potential sun-bathing rolled in. haha.

Temperature is not overly warm during this but we do get some nice weather apart from the few showers. We've been having temperatures of about 28/29 degrees over the weekend.

If you want a place with potential sun-bathing then perhaps down here wouldn't be the best choice to come around late October/early November! You would however be spoilt for choice in terms of golf courses with some being of a high quality.

+1 on Golf and social stuff round Marbella......beginning of October weather will be like a decent UK Summer.....leave it till Mid-november onwards and it can be a tad chilly (I had a week there one November and we had to buy jumpers for the first 5 days but T shirts the last 2, so its unpredictable that time)...prices are better though
