• Thank you all very much for sharing your time with us in 2025. We hope you all have a safe and happy 2026!

Wiggy's place......looks the part.

Was always going to look amazing given the land that was given over to it, but good to see they've done it justice. Holiday homes going a bit pear shaped due to the current market and I'm not convinced there really is the market for the homes or the golf course in that location.
I seriously doubt the R&A will ever hold an Open championship there though future Scottish Open venue will have Castle Stuart a wee bit worried.

Interestingly, the word on the street (RA Clubhouse) is the opposite… :o

Without doubt there are some special holes, but as you could probably tell from the video, we saw 8 holes max…

I would love it to be amazing I really would! But, I still have a few reservations…

Of course, that clubhouse chat might be complete rubbish, and heavily biased…

Suppose i'll just have to visit to find out! ;) :p

Maybe not…! Even with an aberdeen resident discount it is still £120… :o

It looks good enough to be Open worthy.......I guess time will tell, Trump is starting make noises about it being a future Ryder cup venue, might be a number of years before that happens. If it ever happens!

Oh god, please let that happen.....

I wonder why a club in Aberdeen would say it's crap? Protecting themselves?

We all know the Ryder Cup is all about the biggest cheque winning. Why else would they have held it at Celtic Manor when everybody warned about the weather implications.
Trump will get it. Guaranteed. He's got the dosh.

it does look an exceptional layout and location, the pics I fear have been 'enhanced' especially the grass colour and uniformity, just my opinion but with the summer we've had I cant see it being tightly knit grass, there were no close up shots of course so it could be quite bald and patchy at this stage in its development.
In saying all that it's to be applauded, another exceptional course in Scotland, if you dont mind being cold and wet in July it could be great lol- sorry, just fed up with Scottish wet summers:angry:

The grass, is according to my source, exeptional already.Don't think for a minute that they have been relying on the great Scottish weather to get the course ready...greenkeeping and agronomy has moved on a lot in recent times.

This might sound like a stupid question , maybe it is but sure it wont be my 1st or last ha , can courses like these sometimes be built too quick & suffer later ? its a beautiful looking place just wondering if like wine it takes time to be great ? as dodger says greenkeeping & agronomy has moved on but is there any replacement for time ?

When they built The Grove, it could have been playable for about a year before it opened. The grass was superb (still is).

They won't open it until it is ready. Trump can afford to wait until the course is just right, unlike most new courses, which have to get the paying punters through the door, asap.

Castle Stuart was built and opened fairly quickly, when we played there in 09 the course was fantastic. When the weather turned really nasty during the Scottish Open I think it was a sign that although the course in general stood up to it, one area hadn't quite fully settled and the intense rain showed it. Would I go back? damn right.
The Trumpster being a golfer actually, should mean that it will be a belter.

Further to Wiggy being a 'golfer' he has employed people of the highest calibre in Hawtree etc.

Apologies, yes that was a given. What I mean is that he has more than just a financial interest. If it had been a womens shoe emporium I doubt he would have had the same enthusiasm.

Castle Stuart only have the Scottish open for 3 years anyway so i doubt they are worried. Next years event is already been announced and there is talk of it going to the Renaissance when the new holes bed in and the MD of Barclays is something to do with the club and will again sponsor the event when it moves there.

Wiggy will get an event as long as he stumps up the prize money. I'm not sure there is a clubhouse there yet, someone i know went over to look a few weeks ago and is trying to get a few of us a round, but he was told we would have to pay the full whack..

They are already taking bookings and already have over 1000. he needs punters in straight away, he's a prperty developer and thats what he's there for to make money.
