I am buying a Wi at Christmas for my home to be used by my younger grandchildren aged 6 boy & 3 girl.

I don't know a lot about Wi's, played the golf and tennis and found it good fun

Any advice would be greatfully received.........Ta.

Well built, will last well, so for gods sake don't buy brand new.

Gumtree is your best bet, and ensure that it comes with Wii Sport. Wii fitness is fun too for all the family. Buy it now, before people inflate prices for xmas.

A worthy investment (get brand new from ebay) is a remote charger. It will save you buying (or running out of) batteries.

they will love it! make sure when they play, they use the wrist straps that are provided!! or prepare for a "wii fail" (google wii fail)

I'd have to advise not to use Gumtree, or at least be very careful. I work for Parcelforce and our call centres receive hundreds of calls daily about a current Gum Tree Scam involving ucash vouchers. I'm sure if you avoid ucash you'll be ok but they send emails apparently from the royal mail or parcelforce group showing shipping details which are of course fraudulant.

I used to own a Wii and would advise that Mario Kart is an absolute must! Olympics game is pretty good fun too but even the Wii sports resort and standard Wii sports are enough to keep everyone entertained.

As many have said, go second hand, they are pretty much bullett proof.

Prices are tumbling at the moment and will drop even further with the release of the Wii-U in November. That looks a good piece of kit that lets a second player play on a screen built into the controller but is a bit steep with the price around £250.00.

Mario and sonic games will go down a treat.

Also, why not treat yourself and get tiger woods golf. But if you do please don't be a wrist waggler, make plenty of room and give it a proper swing on every shot

barely use my wii now (chipped so have a plethora of games ;) )

when we do its bowling and tiger woods, even my 2 lads hear the bowling on and come out of their caves for a game :)

Thanks for all the help.
I got a very good offer from a fellow poster so power to the posts.

I think the best bit of advice is to make sure the kids wear their straps.
We have just re-introduced the expensive pottery from the loft to the living room as we felt the grandchildren were now old enough not to damage anything.

Just noticed we have placed a large Poole Barbara Linley Adams barn owl on a small shelf directly behind the telly.

We have the Wii , Anyway got the boys it for crimbo and it is hardly used now, I found the console ok but graphics aint the best, supposed to get kids moving about more but as it is all wrist action you can get round this. This year they want an Xbox
