Why the hate?

Agreed. A forummer posted on the Victor DuBuisson thread "He's an intolerable man". What's that all about.

That's because that's exactly what he is. Miserable, prone to outbursts like we saw at Doral, and I know people that have met him and none of them have a good word to say about him. He's an exciting player to watch, and I certainly don't hate him, but as far as sportsmen go, Dubuisson is pretty high on my list of ones I dislike.

Well he's French :)

Can't think of many sportsmen I hate. Some I haven't warmed to for no particular reason (Corey Pavin was the first golfer that sprung to mind). Didn't hate him but just didn't like him. Same in all sports. Plenty of footballers I don't like (usually for a reason) but most have huge talent that you have to admire. The Suarez analogy was good. Disliked all the diving and biting but you had to admire the goals, especially in the PL. World of difference between dislike and hate

Chacun a son gout.

Don't blame you.

Can anyone give me one good reason why I shouldn't have hated Norman Whiteside?
Thank you for your forgiveness, it's a mixture of him being man of the match every time you played us for 15 years, that hat trick at Anfield and the two footed tackle on Gary Naismith with clenched fists I cannot forgive.

Dont forget he reffed most games as well, and got away with it.

Level 8?:D

Not liking someones personality and hate are 2 completely different things though Tony.

It is possible to dislike someone but still admire what they've achieved, eg i don't like Suarez's personality and the biting makes me think he has issues, but what a fantastic footballer, no doubting his ability or hard work on the pitch, granted a lot of the time we only get to see what the media allow.

But still think it's a big leap from dislike to hate.

This.

There are many sportsmen that I dislike, sometimes it's down to things they say or do or the way they behave, sometimes I can't put a finger on it, they just don't resonate. this doesn't mean that I hate them, nor does it mean that I don't respect their achievements. In some cases, they do things later after I've formed an opinion that makes me reconsider and even change my opinion - that works both ways, i.e. I can change from liking to disliking as well.

Becoming a top performer in any field, whether that be sport, medicine, science etc. requires a lot of sacrifice and hard work which has to be respected.

As for hate, the world would be a much better place without it.
