Having flicked between the two I eventually settled on BBC - the picture quality was so much better, no Adverts and the commentary was like discussing it with your mates. I still think Peter Alliss is a great golf commentator and found Wayne O'Grady very knowledgeable too! Ken Brown is as a total star!. The bonus was not having Linnaker and Hansen there! I found Sky's coverage very' Amercianised' I thought their picture quality and camera angles were very poor too.The commentary was very lack lustre.
What a finish though, quality quality golf! Well done Scott its about time! Cabrera is a class act and an utter gentleman

The coverage is the same as its provided by ANGC to both Sky & BBC. Picture quality is equally as good with HD & immense with Sky 3D.

Plus the fact I can't stand Peter Allis its Sky's coverage for me all day long.

only plus side for the Beeb was that they didn't have monty stammering away;)

BBC for me. Also I get a bit embarrassed for Monty as he fluffs his way along trying to be deadly serious - the garth Crooks of golf. Love Alliss - he can give many personal reflections over many decades - like his last night on play-offs and the experiences of his father Percy.

It really is painful to listen to him at times. Butch Harmon however was brillaint as usual.

I flicked bwtween the two stations, but seemed to spend more time on Sky than the beeb.

Sky had the better coverage IMHO

I watched the Sky coverage. It was hard due to Monty's relentless codswallop, but it seemed right as Sky put money into golf 52 weeks per year.

has anyone actually told Sky about Monty ? He's achieved one thing here that no-one else has for a long time - he has everyone on here agreeing that his involvement in a chair is a huge turn off!

bit of a sweeping statement! certainly dont speak for me.

I flicked between the two and when SKY had talking in the studio the beeb were still on the course, so I ended up watching the majority of beeb coverage. With no adverts I had less tea:cool:

After watching the first two rounds on the pc with a choice of sky or the golf channel, which I ended up watching as I got so bored of the sky commentary, I couldn't wait for the calming tones of Peter Alliss and co.
The added bonus of not having to put up with relentless amounts of adverts, the extra coverage you get and the extra looks at the whole leaderboard I enjoyed the last two rounds far more than the first two.

Didn't think I would, but settled on BBC. Watch the PGA tour on Sky most weeks so was nice to have a change of commentators. Enjoyed listening to Alliss and Ken Brown in the end, no breaks was a bonus!

But you can stand Monty?????????????

I ended up with the beeb mainly for the reason that I don't have sky hd so it looked 10 times better. I enjoyed the commentary and the fact there's no adverts is an added bonus.

normally i would have gone with bbc to avoid ads, but i had been watching on sky from thurs and forgot completely that it was on bbc as well. the sky ad breaks very very short and very infrequent compared to the usual run of the mill pga tour event.

not keen on ken brown playing the nutty professor role when i am led to believe that he was the rudest pro am participant in the history of the format.

Sky for me. the fabled "advert every 5 minutes" is a total myth (for the Masters at least). There was about 6 adverts through 6 hours of coverage last night and all were less than a minute long. Butch Harmon is awesome, and Monty comes out with some absolute belters, which make up for all his umm-ing and ahh-ing.

The pre-coverage talk was infinitely better on Sky as well. Take the "analysis" of Tiger's penalty. One was in-depth, with video and illustration, the other was Ken Brown, hunting around the fairway trying to find some repaired divots.

I used to love the BBC coverage (and the music is still awesome) but it really doesn't hold a candle to Sky, adverts or not.

That said, if I didn't have SkyHD, I'd have watched it on the Beeb HD for the better picture quality.

Started with Sky but then went to BBC as couldn't take much more of Monty commentating. "The Garth Crooks of Golf" - brilliant and very apt!

What did really bug me on BBC though was the leaderboard where they had the hole number first THEN the player's score...looked all wrong and don't understand why they feel the need to mess about with such things. If it aint broke don't fix it!
