Who finds the driving range useful?

I use the range twice a week or so in winter, mainly driving the ball as I find short irons pretty pointless off the mat.
Hardly ever use the range in the summer though, just go down the course and use the practice facilities there
Winter is driving/long game practice and summer is short game of the grass

Never go to the range as it's a good 20mins away on a good day. Plus there is a large park 2 min walk around the corner, that's nearly always empty.

Would love the option to go to the driving range but there is not one near me worth using. The only one within a 15 minute drive is at Belton Woods abd it is pretty poor with regards condition, balls and facilities. Even worse is that Ictend to try and use it in the evenings and it is set up so the sun shines right in your eyes so you either lose track of your ball and have no idea of the flight or you start chasing the ball and swinging poorly.

I'm well known at our club for using the practise ground more than most(quite possibly any) other members, and hear all the excuses when people ask me about it, "I take a divot so can't hit off the mats" "I start shanking when I go there" "you learn more on the course" and so forth, but the truth is I can hit more balls in the limited time I have and not have to worry about running into slow groups or having to look for stray shots in the gorse. Not to mention the fact I find playing golf by myself incredibly tedious
