A full 60* for me goes about 60 yards, via the stratosphere. Though it's a shot I rarely hit, I'll normally take a little off the 56. I'm considered by most I play with to be a long hitter, though I'm not in the league of forum big hitters.
The only gap I'm worried about with my wedges is the 25yard gap between my full PW (125yd) and full GW (100yd swinging out of my shoes). Distances under 100yd I'm much more comfortable with playing a "feel" shot with the 52 or 56 wedge.
I too want to swap my 52* for a 50*. It seems 52,56, 60 has become a standard and is often all you'll find in a golf shop, it is what I carry as I didn't know any better when I bought my wedges. But with stronger lofts in PWs (mine is 46*) it makes more sense to have the 50*.
I don't think I would have an issue with the bigger gap to my 56sw. In fact when my wedges need changing I think I will go to two wedges: 50, 58.
