Hi,

I am in a dilemma.

As you can see from my signature I have achieved a PB -

For the first time ever I have a ball that I have managed to play 3 full consecutive rounds with, I am that chuffed I have taken it out of my bag and placed it on my trophy shelf.

But I really want to see how many rounds I can play with it and loath to leave it on the shelf.

I also don't want to lose it as we have become quite attached.

Question is this, should I continue to play with it until we are parted and suffer the added pressure of keeping it safe or should I leave it as my only keeper on the shelf?

Cheers

Steve...

Attached to a golf ball.Think you might need to get some other interests.

Golf balls are horrible little things that never do what you want them to. They hide in the longest rough, love to explore outside the boundaries of the course, dive into the nearest bunker and then smile at you after you have skulled them out. To top it off they have an aversion to getting into 4 and 1/4 inch holes, and you like them Doc.

Doc, having spent 54 holes teaching the aforementioned spheriod the wily ways of golf and a golf course is it not wise to continue to use it? Everything has a finite life, and in my humble opinion your balls appear to have a long life... oh for half the stamina!!... run with it till it runs off

Get it back in the bag and scuff it down the fairways some more.
Only show it love if it drops into the hole in one shot, then it is worthy of a mount in the trophy cabinet :D.

I too have a srixon distance ball placed on the shelf with a bit of blu tak as it managed 3 rounds without running away! This is the one and only ball to achieve this status. I'm lucky to have one after one round let alone 3!!

If its a milestone and your proud of your PB then by all means keep it safe!

I had two holes in one in my teens. My biggest regret is that I never kept either ball and will it ever happen again? Probably not.

Call it Wiiilllsssoooooooon...... :) :)

Draw a face and some hair on it and keep it on the shelf as a reminder and just use a new ProV1 x.....Simples...

Is it not battered to death after 56 holes ? plenty scuffs and scrapes ? Surely it's time for it to be placed into the tatty bag and a new one brought out. Am sure it will affect your gamew now that it is no longer perfect ?

I had a Nike ball that topped over the 100 hole mark. It went to the charity shop with all the other old ones.

However, I reckon a PB ball might be worth keeping.....and certainly a hole-in-one ball.

If it meant something as good as a PB then why not keep it. I managed to keep the same ball all round yesterday and to be honest never looked like losing it. Despite being robbed by an Irishman for the trophy (only kidding Bill) I don't have any attachment to my golf balls and so the Pro V that got me so close to glory will be back on duty on the 1st at Royal Ascot in the Saturday roll up

It's a frigging golf ball man, get a grip. Are you gonna put the clubs you used to shoot your PB on the shelf too? What about the glove you used, or the tees?

You shot the PB, not the ball

Really depends on how sentimental you are. In future years are you going to sit there looking all dewy eyed at the ball that lasted for 3 rounds? Or are you going to wonder why you are clotting your house with junk?

If the former then get it polished and mounted with a little plaque, if the latter keep smacking it until it can't be found and then start again with another ball!

Personally, I'd keep hitting it - the ball itself is not different, it's your game getting better. If you want to keep the ball as a reminder of the time when your game improved then fine, just remember it would have happened with any ball as the difference is down to you.

I had a nightmare 2 weeks ago losing all 4 Solo balls i had in my bag, i did find an AD333 though, continued to play with it for that round and 5 more, i hit my PB with it, hit it OB for it to bounce back in a few times etc, it lasted 101 holes until Thursday when it went OOB forever lost, it was quite sad but i got over it ;)

Although i do like the Wilson thing!, i would say play with it til it runs away.
