I've been struggling for 12-18 months now. Most rounds I've been managing to keep just under 90 with the occasional dip into the sub-85 rounds. Maybe shot my handicap once or twice.

Then I go out for a round after work yesterday as the other half was out.

Birdied the first, should have birdied the second but missed a reasonably easy 5 footer, so kick in par. Par'd the 3rd, again had makable birdy putt. Picked up another birdy on 8, and on it went.

Came off the front 9 in 37 blows, only 2 over par.

Pared 9, chucked in a few bogeys then got to 17 and 18.

Two par 5's. Needing a par an a bogey to break 80 for the first time in absolute ages.

Only went and birdied them both :D.

So shot a 76 out of absolute nowhere.:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Still don't quite believe it.

Only thing I can really put it down to was I took my time over every shot. Didn't pull driver out unless I had a wide open space to put it in and hit my hybrid off a lot of tee's to keep the ball safe and in play.

Could this be a turning point or just a statistical anomaly ? Only time will tell.

Well done.
To be honest you shouldn't be shooting in the 90s off 12

I know. Ever since my last pro decided I needed a complete swing rebuild I've struggled. In the last 12 months I've probably been playing close to a 18-20 handicap.

I've started working with a new pro about 6 weeks ago and things have started to stabilise again, but no indication I had a round like this in me.

Well done again.
It just goes to show what can be achieved even if it seems miles away.
It sounds like having no distractions helped you concentrate more, hopefully
you can no take that on to competitions and get a cut.

Just being relaxed and concentrating on what is in front of you makes a big difference.. Hope you keep the form and keep the state of mind as well !!
