They were jumping all over threads when England were poor in the first 2 games, full of (jealous) rants about how footballers earn too much, no pride/ passion etc.

Now that the first "goal" fo the tournament is achieved, i.e qualification for last 16, they have all crawled back into their shells.

To coin a phrase "where are you? Let's be 'aving you!!" :p

Still full of hot air after your holiday then?

Do you get extra points for beating 2nd or 1st rate teams??

The goal definitely changed the game. It just goes to show what not playing Heskey can achieve. Gerrard is still wasted out there on the left but after the woeful season he just had, he shouldn't even be playing. That said, Lampard had a fantastic year and he's been anonymous but that's largely down to the fact Capello hasn't worked out he can't play as deep as the England manager wants him to.

Those astute people, the bookies, will give odds to reflect this ABE feelings on Sunday's match I fancy!

To be honest, it will be more interesting to witness the result of a game played between, what should be, equal teams, although, listening to the pundits - poor Germany have no chance.

However the original poster's view is correct....congrats to Engerland for such a convincing win yesterday, over a wonderful footballing team full of star studded players!

england are not a good team, and only people who think they are, are deluded, or on strong medication, legal or otherwise, or the stupid TV pundits that plague our screens.
i am not saying germany are much better, but i can only see one result.
if the team you supported played that bad, would you go around saying you were going to win the league or cup.

perhaps we should follow the cricket example and make any foreign player that shows something english.
the cricket team has more south africans than english players. bloody disgrace.

but back to the football, do you really think england will win the world cup?
the only people who do are the press and tv pundits whose job it is, is to sell these products, so lets not get carried away, we are not good enough, and neither is the manager

on another note, no mention of goal keeping error.
having looked at it several time, a well taken effort, but i think the keeper should have saved it, it was straight at him a very good height to parry.
what would have been said by all the experts if that had been green in goal.
just a thought :D

To be fair to him he didn't have a lot of time to react. Apart from that I thought their keeper had a very good game, and on another day we might have had 3 or 4.

Pleased with the chances we created. Not a world beating performance, but it didn't need to be, and we had some very good (imo) spells.

Milner showed that you don't have to skin 3 defenders to get a quality ball into the box.

Lampard still not found his form, and Barry gave the ball away too cheaply from what I saw. Won't happen but I'd like to see Carrick in for Barry, Cole in for Lampard with Gerrard moving to the middle.

perhaps we should follow the cricket example and make any foreign player that shows something english.

as the England team represents the FA it makes sense that any player affiliated to the FA (which they need to be to play in the EPL?) should be eligible for selection, so they shouldn't need to be naturalised.
and since there are around 100 premier league players at the World Cup . . .

We still looked average. But it was a bit better than the USA games wasn't it.

I think we'll be better against teams who are of a better standard than those we've played already. Teams who will push up more themselves, and where we are not expected to make all the play.

Still think we should have one up front though if we are to progress and we still constantly give the ball away.

Was surprised to see the BBC pundits saying we'd stopped thumping it forward from deep because that isnt the case. Its a tough call to leave defoe out, but i cant see rooney being dropped (he is desperate for a goal to get him going though).

We still looked average. ......

Who cares??

To use golf as a reference (that'll please Leftie, as it is a golf forum! :D), what's the point in starting with 3 dazzling birdies if you go on to shoot over 100??

A few scrappy pars will get you into the round without a disaster so at least you've still got a score going.

3rd rate Slovenia? That'll make Slovakia 4th rate before they knocked out the world champions then? Experts? yeah right.

I know, i know....i'd just be a bit happier if we'd have been more composed. Wouldnt want us setting the world alight just yet.

Im quite optimistic to be honest, but it just sounds a bit bloody stupid saying that after what we've all seen. I think we'll get much better for the reasons i gave, and i think a 5 man midfield would help....i need to get over that cos its not going to happen!
