.....whats the ruling?? (other than the course should be shut :D)

it's one of those that i cannot find anything on. Rule 25-1c comes close but doesn't really answer it.

IF a temp green becomes unplayable and you need to claim relief , where do you drop???should you be made to go off the green? (if you in the rough, you have to drop in the same cut ) or can you deem nearest point , on the green , is the hole edge but your then going closer to the hole.

We played a roll up stableford a few weeks back and the 18th temp green was a shambles. (has since been re-cut). unputtable. we all chipped close enough not for it to be an issue (tap in) but if you had a 10ft left, i wouldn't fancy it finishing anywhere near the hole.

Just though't id throw this one out there to you all, for your thoughts.

If the temporary green is unplayable e.g. covered in casual water and you take relief, what are you going to do? Drop within a club length of the NPR and play again. Result? Ball is lying in casual water. Take relief and result? Ball is in casual water ...... You could be there a long, long time until you take relief yet again, play the ball and actually hole it.

Reminds me of a Marty Feldman running gag in one of his programmes.
