..your putter's not.

How many times does this happen?

I had a nice fourball at Glen GC in North Berwick yesterday and, even though I say so myself, I played like a god.....from tee to green. After that it was an entirely different matter.

The greens yesterday were fast as. A bit weird at this time of year but it was nice to see. Unfortunately the speed threw me completely at the first and a four putt ensued. That was just the start of it.

I missed a tiddler on the 2nd, then three putted the 3rd. Birdied the next two (stableford so far was 0,1,2,3,4) and had an eagle putt for net albatross on the 6th to try to make a 5 pointer. I three putted from nowhere!

Anyhoo, the upshot was that the confidence on the greens went completely in spite of hitting EVERY fairway and 14 greens in regulation. I ended up three putting the last five greens in a row for an 82 gross. 8 three putts and a four putt. 42 in total.

I may never play so well from tee to green again...but hopefully I'll never putt so badly either.

Would you rather have 18 putts or 42 for the same score? Discuss.

:D :D

Give me the score. Its what counts at the end. PLaying well is nice but its the scoring that matters.

Frustrating when one aspect of your game lets you down but at least something was firing. Good shooting Sir!

1. How was your direction?
Anywhere but in the hole.

2. How was your distance control?
What's that, Bob?

3. How was stroke tempo?
Slow, slow, quick, quick, slow.

:p

Bob, don't let the former solicitor kid you on. This is all part of his plan to talk about how bad his game is before shooting a +3 round at Castle Stuart in 4 weeks time. I have had many rotten apples from the cart owned by J_F. The bloke is an out and out shark ;)

I suppse if im coming in with the same score i wouldnt be interested in swapping good driving for good putting instead. I'd rather whichever thing i'm bad at was the same each round - at least then you've more chance of correctging it and improving on that aspect.

Its all about scoring isnt it. i think the poor putting gets in your head, it certainly does mine once i've missed an easy one or three putting from 12 feet. just need to find a way of forgetting about it and being possitive over the next one i guess.

Some great ball striking in there though!
